S.P.A.L. 2013 vs Juventus
There may still be seven games left in the Serie A season, but Juventus are already right on the cusp of clinching another league title. They need just a point from this weekend’s match away against SPAL 2013 to sew up their eighth consecutive Scudetto.
Unsurprisingly, the Serie A 2019 odds favour the Bianconeri to take care of business and get the point they need to claim the title against their lowly foes.
However, SPAL are still in the midst of a relegation battle themselves and will be looking to delay the champions’ coronation for another week.
Talking Points
Dominant Juventus
Juventus are strolling to yet another Serie A title. They’re currently 20 points clear of second-placed Napoli in the table as they’ve simply laid waste to everyone in their path with relative ease.
Just take their recent run, for instance. Despite missing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for the past three Serie A matches, they haven’t missed a beat. They’ve simply continued to rack up all three points en route to another championship.
Teenage sensation Moise Kean has stepped up to fill Ronaldo’s boots quite capably in the Portuguese’s absence. He’s scored in each of Juve’s last three Serie A matches, which includes the winner in their 2-1 win over Milan.
It’s a testament to Juventus’ outstanding depth in their squad that they can continue to produce the results even without one of the very best players in the world.
Of course, Juventus are still busy with their challenging quarter-final assignment against Ajax. Regardless of what happens in the first leg, they will likely look to rest their stars ahead of the second leg back in Turin to maximize their chances of progressing. That means there are going to be many changes to their squad against SPAL.
But even a second-string Juve squad, which will likely include Kean in the starting XI, is still more than strong enough to get the point they need against SPAL — and possibly more.
SPAL still fighting for safety
SPAL just about survived last year’s Serie A campaign, their first for nearly a half-century. They finished 17th, three points clear of the relegation zone.
They are once again battling relegation this season and are not yet secured a place in Serie A for next year. They are currently in 16th place, two points ahead of 17th-placed Bologna and four points clear of Empoli, who are in the final relegation spot.
SPAL have given their hopes of survival a huge boost in recent weeks as they recently went on a three-match win streak. However, that winning run finally came to an end last weekend as they fell 2-1 at Cagliari.
SPAL’s home form this season has been nothing to write home about. They’ve won just four times in 15 games on home soil with six draws and five defeats while scoring a measly 14 goals.
Although, their Serie A 2019 results at home have finally picked up in recent weeks. During their three-match winning run, two of them were home wins over the top two Rome-based clubs in Roma and Lazio. Two Andrea Petagna penalties proved decisive in those games.
Petagna has been SPAL’s most prolific marksman with 12 goals this season. Midfielder Jasmin Kurtic has also come up with some timely strikes. Of his five goals this season, four have come at home.
History
SPAL only made it back to Serie A in the 2017-18 season following a 49-year absence. Hence, they haven’t had much experience facing off against Juventus.
Juventus have won both meetings in Turin with relative ease. That includes a 2-0 win in their first meeting this season, which came in November.
However, SPAL did hold Juventus to a 0-0 draw in their visit to the Stadio Paolo Mazza last season, which should give them confidence heading into this upcoming encounter.
Betting Tip
S.P.A.L. vs Juventus | Under 2.25 Goals @ 1.87 | |
April 13, 21:00 (GMT+8) |
It’s hard to see too many goals going in during this match. On the one hand, SPAL clearly don’t have much firepower and have relied on penalties to score huge wins over big-name opposition. That sort of luck seems unlikely to continue against Juventus.
Meanwhile, Juve will likely be fielding a somewhat weakened side following their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Ajax and might not be capable of completely thumping SPAL away from home.
SBOBET odds have UNDER 2.25 goals priced at 1.87, which appears to be a wise wager to make considering the scenario the two teams find themselves in.
Another intriguing bet is the draw, which is priced at 2.99. It’s a result which benefits both clubs in the big picture since Juventus clinch their title while SPAL pick up another point toward safety.
