Leicester City vs Everton
Leicester City host Everton at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, and it’s a clash of two clubs who are experiencing very different fortunes at the moment.
Before the Premier League season started most pundits expected both these teams to be just outside the top four race; but comfortably in the top half. Well, over a third of the way through and they are certainly not competing with each other.
The Foxes climbed to second in the table after a comfortable win over Arsenal early this month, but Everton have struggled to put any sort of a run together and languish just two places above the drop zone. The momentum is with the hosts and the Toffees will find it hard to keep up with the flying foxes.
Talking Points
Vardy on fire!
Some of the biggest Premier League 2019 news of the season so far has been the form of one of the central characters in Leicester’s fairytale story from the past four years. Since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as head coach of the club striker Jamie Vardy has been in the form of his life. Sbobet Premier League fans will remember how the artful fox fired his team to Premier League glory in 2016, and the Leicester faithful are convinced his goals will take them to the Champions League this time around.
He’s leading the race for the Golden Boot with 12 goals at a rate of one every 98 minutes on the pitch. He’s a marksman with a lethal eye and a shooting accuracy of 69 per cent, with 20 of his 29 shots on target. And with a supply coming from the likes of Youri Tielemens, James Maddison and Ben Chilwell the goals are unlikely to dry up any time soon.
Vardy is as comfortable spearheading a ball-playing team as much as the counter-attacking side which won the league, and that’s an exciting prospect for Leicester fans.
Can Silva survive Everton’s horror run?
Everton boss Marco Silva is coming under serious pressure after an underwhelming first third of the season, and now he’s embarking on a nightmare set of fixtures.
After this game, the Toffees come up against Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. If Silva is still clinging on after those four games his side, which is likely to be battered and bruised, comes up against Burnley, and the only respite is a Carabao Cup tie against… Leicester!
Survive that run and Silva should survive the season. We woke up this morning to the news that Arsenal had sacked Unai Emery and that followed the recent departure of Mauricio Pochettino from Spurs. Everton fans see their club as a near equal of those two and they won’t be happy to enter 2020 in the bottom half of the table.
The Toffees haven’t been helped by the horrific injury suffered by Andre Gomes in a home draw against Spurs, but they desperately need more firepower to match their hosts. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have three goals each, the Brazilian netting in the Toffees’ 1-2 win at Southampton, but they both need to up the ante.
Rodgers hints he’s at the beginning of the journey at Leicester
Emery’s demise at the Emirates has set the rumour mill whirring and it’s no surprise that Leicester’s much-admired boss has already been mentioned. Foxes fans would have liked him to categorically rule out a move to Arsenal, but in an interview today Rodgers didn’t; though he did say Leicester was at the start of a journey and he was happy to be there.
History
Despite recent fortunes, the head to heads are close, with Leicester winning seven to Everton’s eight in the Premier League era, while there have been 13 draws.
Everton did the double over the Foxes last year and Silva would love to make it three wins on the run. But it’s going to be hard.
Leicester have won the last six on the bounce, including the 0-9 annihilation of Southampton, and have won the last three all by a 2-0 scoreline.
They have won five of their six home games, drawing the other, and are unbeaten in nine at the King Power Stadium.
Betting Tip

The Leicester City vs Everton betting odds are rather different than you would have expected at the beginning of the season.
That Leicester is at 1.63 to win this game against one of the Premier League’s ever-presents, tells us how these two clubs are faring right now. The draw is at 3.85 and Everton at 5.20.
This is the first game in such a difficult run for Everton, but draws aren’t really enough at the moment and I don’t think they’ll sit back.
