La Liga: Another Epic El Clasico!

Real Madrid vs Barcelona

It’s always the biggest game on the La Liga calendar and one of the most eagerly awaited clashes in world football, and they don’t get much bigger than this one.

The El Clasico is the headline act this weekend and it could go some way towards deciding the destiny of the La Liga title, particularly if Barcelona can pull off a win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Blaugrana are two points ahead of Los Blancos and are favourites to win a third successive title at odds of 1.60, while Los Blancos are not far behind at 1.90. The La Liga 2020 odds confirm it’s a two-horse race, and the outcome could become a little clearer by Sunday night.

Two games ago Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid were in charge, but taking just one point from their last two games has let the Champions in again.

It’s a match which will dominate the La Liga 2020 news this weekend, and we’ll be back here with the action on Sunday night, but in the meantime let’s take a look at the biggest characters who could shape events at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Talking Points

Record-breaking Ramos

Los Blancos have stuttered a little in the league and have an uphill battle to stay in the Champions League. They had as tough a draw as you could expect in the European competition, coming up against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and after Isco had given Real a second-half lead, two late goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne handed them a rare home defeat.

Sergio Ramos picked up his 26th Real Madrid red card during the defeat and that means he has equalled Edgar David’s record tally of four in the Champions League. He has the most red cards in La Liga history, but then he’s played more games than most, and he holds some more impressive records.

Ramos is Spain’s most capped player with 170 internationals under his belt and is the record holder of El Clasico appearances with 43.

This season he’s Los Blancos’ second top scorer with five, and remains a rock at the back, alongside the in-form Raphael Varane.

El-Clasico

Quique is cutting it

Barca head coach Quique Setien was a surprise appointment in mid-January but he’s steadied the club in his first 10 games and a win in his first El Clasico would represent his biggest result yet as Blaugrana boss.

Some players have benefited from a change at the helm. Frenkie de Jong looks a lot happier and Antoine Griezmann seems to be playing with more confidence. The France striker was on target as Barcelona came from behind to earn a draw in their Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie away to Napoli LINK 2. And with eight league goals to his name, he’ll be aiming to hit double figures soon.

That’s never a problem for Lionel Messi. Last weekend he scored four as the Blaugrana hit Eibar for five to stay at the top of La Liga.

Griezmann and Messi are set to partner each other for the remainder of the season as Luis Suarez is out injured until May.

Leo pulls away from Karim

Messi’s four goals against Eibar has taken him clear at the top of the La Liga scoring charts, now on 18 and five ahead of Karim Benzema, who has been a shining light at the head of Los Blancos’ attack. Barca’s skipper has also made 12 assists, to Benzema’s six, but the Real striker has led the line superbly with his excellent movement.

History

The head to heads are on a knife-edge with Barca ahead by 96 to 95 from the 243 El Clasicos in all competitions. The Blaugrana has had the edge more recently. Since 1994 Barca is up by 32 to 19 and unbeaten in seven.

Real Madrid have won only one of the last ten, while Barca have won five from the last six.

But Los Blancos are unbeaten at home in the league this season, having won eight and drawn four.

The last meeting was a battle of attrition at the Camp Nou in December which ended up 0-0.

Betting Tip

??
Real Madrid vs Barcelona Draw 1×2 @ 3.35
March 02, 04:00 (GMT+8)

I can see another draw in the rematch.

Real Madrid are at 2.25 with SBOBET to win this game while Barcelona are at 3.20, and if I had to go one way or the other I’d back Messi and co. But Los Blancos are very hard to beat at the Bernabeu and they won’t want to lose there twice in a week!

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
