Levante vs Sevilla
Sevilla are suddenly the hottest team in La Liga, racking up five wins in their last six games. Thanks to this fine run, the Rojiblancos are still in the hunt for the title as they remain six points back of leaders Atletico Madrid with just seven games remaining.
Their La Liga 2021 odds of winning the title still aren’t great, but they do have a much better shot at extending their winning run as they visit midtable Levante in midweek.
The Frogs are seemingly in full vacation mode already as their form has dropped off considerably over the last few weeks, and they may not put up much of a fight against their in-form visitors.
Talking Points
Levante lacking motivation
Levante’s form has swiftly gone downhill since suffering a heartbreaking extra-time defeat to Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
The Frogs have gone on to lose four of their last six games in the league, which includes a 2-0 defeat at home to relegation-threatened Huesca. They were also thoroughly thrashed 5-1 at home by Villarreal last weekend.
Levante don’t have much left to play for anymore this season, which is perhaps a reason for their dip in form. They are in ninth place, with no hope of making a run at Europe and safe from any relegation trouble.
Mickael Malsa got Levante’s only goal in their defeat to Villarreal. The 25-year-old midfielder got the start due to Nemanja Radoja’s absence with an ankle injury and may have done enough to keep his place
Levante need all the goals they can get with their strike partnership of Roger Marti and Jose Luis Morales struggling to score of late. Marti, the team’s leading scorer with 11 goals this season, hasn’t scored in four games since getting the winner in the derby against Valencia.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Morales (10 goals) has not found the net at all since bagging a brace against Granada back in early February.
Sevilla on a late-season surge
Sevilla were similarly knocked out in dramatic fashion in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey by eventual champions Barcelona and were also knocked out of the Champions League by Borussia Dortmund.
But instead of suffering a late-season slide, Sevilla’s La Liga 2021 results have been excellent since those two defeats, with five wins in their last six La Liga matches.
After beating leaders Atletico Madrid 1-0 at home, they registered back-to-back come-from-behind away victories against Celta Vigo (3-4) and Real Sociedad (1-2).
Youssef En-Nesyri continues to be among the goals for Sevilla. The Moroccan scored his 16th league goal against Real Sociedad, which puts him fifth in the league.
Thanks to their strong late-season run, Sevilla are now just one point behind third-place Barcelona, who still have a game in hand. Sevilla haven’t finished in the top three in La Liga since the 2008-09 season, so Julen Lopetegui will likely be shooting for that goal to fire up his troops.
Sevilla usually score a goal or two away from home; they’ve scored at least one in 14 of their 16 away matches this season.
They should fancy their chances of adding to that tally against a Levante side which has conceded 24 goals at home, the second-most in La Liga this season.
History
Sevilla have had a significant upper hand over Levante in their recent meetings. They hold an 11-4 edge in terms of wins over their last 22 league matches, with seven draws.
Sevilla have gone undefeated in their last five against Levante, with four wins. That includes their first meeting this season. Although, Levante gave them a good fight, and Sevilla needed a stoppage-time winner from En-Nesyri to beat the Granotas.
Betting Tip

April 22, 01:00 (GMT+8) |
SBOTOP odds have Sevilla installed as significant 1.73 favourites to extend their winning streak to four in a row at Levante. The home side are priced at 4.40 to pick up the win, while a draw is 3.80.
Based on the recent form of both clubs, it’s hard not to see another Sevilla win. Aside from being the superior side, they have more motivation to play harder than Levante, whose season is all but over at this point.
Sevilla might not have it as easy as Villarreal did over the weekend, but they should still leave Levante’s Estadi Ciutat de Valencia with all three points.
