However, BVB’s win streak will be under threat as they travel to Werder Bremen, who are on their own two-game winning run at the moment.

Werder Bremen back on track

Werder Bremen were on the receiving end of some disastrous beatings just before the World Cup break – a 6-1 thrashing against Bayern – and immediately after the break – a shocking 7-1 demolition at the hands of Koln.

But Bremen have gotten back on track with back-to-back wins over Wolfsburg and Stuttgart as they sit comfortably in mid-table.

After his World Cup exploits with Germany, Niclas Fullkrug has returned to Werder picking up where he left off from the first half of the season. He has 3 goals and an assist in the first four games after the break as he continues to lead the Bundesliga goalscoring charts with 13 goals on the season.

Fullkrug’s strike partner Marvin Ducksch has also made a strong start to 2023 with a goal and 2 assists. The 28-year-old now has 4 goals and 5 assists on the season.

Werder Bremen are up to eighth in the Bundesliga table after their recent wins. That’s despite a surprisingly poor home record this season. They have lost five of their 10 games at the Weserstadion, which is tied for the second-most in the division.

Dortmund remain perfect in 2023

Borussia Dortmund were one of the disappointments of the Bundesliga heading in the World Cup break. Their inconsistent form saw them fall way behind leaders Bayern Munich and their Bundesliga 2023 odds of winning the title looked remote.

But while Bayern have suffered a blip since returning, Dortmund have come out with a perfect start to the second half of the season. They have won all four of their games in 2023, scoring 13 goals in the process.

Prior to beating Bochum 2-1 in the DFB-Pokal in midweek, Edin Terzic’s side thumped Freiburg 5-1 in their last Bundesliga match.

Among the goalscorers against Freiburg was Sebastien Haller, who finally got his first goal for the club after returning from testicular cancer. Haller’s return has provided Dortmund with the attacking focal point that they have been missing for most of the season.

Meanwhile, fellow summer signing Karim Adeyemi is also finally finding his best form. After a slow start to the season, the 21-year-old has scored in back-to-back Bundesliga games and also set up another goal since the restart.

With Haller now healthy and Adeyemi contributing, Dortmund’s stable of attacking weapons is now looking very deep. With the likes of Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus, Julian Brandt, and Giovanni Reyna – who has scored in each of his last three league appearances – BVB have plenty of player-makers who can trouble Bremen.
