Sports Betting Fans just love Spain’s Top Two!

This weekend, Barcelona and Real Madrid blew their latest opposition away as the race for La Liga reaches a furious pace.

The two Spanish giants are everywhere, with huge Champions League football games coming up in midweek and a Copa del Rey final place booked for Barca. In the league, with one point separating the rivals, betting websites have it as a two-horse race and can’t pick the winner.

Barcelona 5-0 Celta Vigo

Luis Enrique’s team is a decent bet for fans of ‘overs’. Barca are hitting the net at will, following up a 6-1 mauling of Sporting Gijon with another big win against Celta. Goal difference is well in Barcelona’s favour and with Lionel Messi on target twice yet again, that’s likely to remain the case. Neymar got in on the act with a beautiful chip over the overworked Sergio Alvarez.

Eibar 1-4 Real Madrid

Karim Benzema kept Los Blancos’ momentum going with a double strike, his first goals in over a month. With Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale absent, Benzema took his chance to shine before James Rodriguez killed the game, making it 3-0 at the break. Marco Asensio also hit the target while Ruben Pena grabbed a consolation score for Eibar.

Alaves 1-1 Sevilla

Third-placed Sevilla drifted off the pace a little after a hard-fought draw with Alaves. Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder had calmly slotted home halfway through the first half before Deyverson and Gaizka Toquero failed to show similar composure for the hosts. But Aleksandar Katai’s equaliser was the least Alaves deserved, and Sevilla was lucky to escape with a point.

Atletico Madrid 3-0 Valencia

Diego Simeone’s Atletico stay fourth after Antoine Griezmann scored a double as the home side coasted to a win at the Vicente Calderon stadium. Kevin Gameiro made it ten league goals for the season in between Griezmann’s strikes.

Real Betis 2-3 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad got the weekend off to a bang in a five-goal thriller which keeps the pressure on the top four. Xabi Prieto was another star to score twice, heading home on 72 minutes after the hosts came back from a two-goal deficit.

Villarreal 2-0 Espanyol

After a tight first half, the Yellow Submarine nudged ahead on the stroke of half-time when Roberto Soriano hit home. Cedric Bakambu fired home on 80 minutes to seal the result and keep Villarreal sixth.

Athletic Club 1-0 Malaga

The Bilbao club kept up its interest in Europe with a hard-fought win over Malaga on Monday. It looked to be heading for a stalemate until the home side won a penalty on 72 minutes which Raul Garcia slotted calmly home.

Las Palmas 5-2 Osasuna

Las Palmas followed up a magnificent draw at Real Madrid in midweek with a powerful attacking display against bottom club Osasuna. PSG loanee Jese scored twice, but a double strike from Osasuna’s Kenan Kodro gave them an unlikely half-time lead. Marko Livaja and Roque Mesa were also on target to wreck the visitors’ hopes.

Leganes 1-0 Granada

Leganes extended its distance from the relegation zone to five points with a vital win over Granada. Darwin Machis struck late on to give the Madrid minnows a big chance of survival.

Sporting Gijon 0-1 Deportivo La Coruna

And that win became all the more important when Sporting lost to Deportivo as the 17th-placed side ended a run of three consecutive away defeats. Pedro Mosquera scored on the cusp of half-time to leave Sporting in big trouble.
