Vincenzo’s Boys can upset Betting Odds

This weekend, Vicenzo Montella’s AC Milan are the latest side to try to stop Juventus’ march to another title, and Bianconeri supporters know this game is a threat.

While betting websites hold Juventus as the overwhelming favourites to win Serie A, the Old Lady needs to keep her eye on the ball. Online betting fans will point to an eight-point lead as a cause for comfort, but is there any sign of a way in for the chasers? Coach Max Allegri has recently rubbished talk of a move to the Emirates, but speculation is rife and Milan will hope Juve’s guard is down on Friday.

WEEK 28 SATURDAY:

Juventus vs AC Milan

What an opener to the weekend’s football! Juve’s rivals, Milan included, hope a surprise draw last week with Udinese has shown Juve to be vulnerable. Milan are in good form with 13 points from five games and are in the chase for a Champions League place. Last week, they beat high-flying Napoli in the Coppa Italia. Milan are at 1.99 to win with a +1.25 start, Juve are at 1.94 with that handicap.

WEEK 28 SUNDAY:

Genoa vs Sampdoria

Genoa and Sampdoria provide the entertainment on Sunday in what I expect to be a tight contest. Sampdoria are unbeaten in six, including four wins, while Genoa haven’t won in five home games. The hosts did get a rare win last week in Empoli, though, and are at 2.60 to win with Sampdoria at 2.73 and the draw at 3.15.

Napoli vs Crotone

That win in Rome has given Napoli a big incentive, now only two points behind second place. Another slip by Roma could lift Maurizio Sarri’s team to the role of chief chasers. Dries Mertens has 18 goals to his name and will fancy another couple against 19th-placed Crotone.

Inter Milan vs Atalanta

Sixth plays fifth and a win either way will put the victors in fourth, at least until Lazio plays on Tuesday. Inter hit Cagliari for five last week with Mauro Icardi bagging his 17th of the season, but Atalanta are on a great run, beating Napoli on the last trip out. A draw is available at 3.45.

Fiorentina vs Cagliari

That thumping left Cagliari in 13th while a creditable draw in Atalanta kept the Viola in eighth place. Both teams have played in 18 games with over 2.5 goals, compared to only nine with under 2.5, led by 12-goal strikers Nikola Kalinic and Marco Borriello.

Pescara vs Udinese

Pescara are rooted to the bottom spot and twelve points from safety but had a rare and beautiful 5-0 win against Genoa when they last played at home. Fourteenth-placed Udinese are without a win in five but did bag that shock point against Juventus last week.

Chievo vs Empoli

Seven points above the drop zone, Empoli are the only team realistically catchable by the bottom three. Giovanni Martusciello’s team still needs to gather a fair few points to secure its place. He’d settle for one at 11th-placed Chievo.

Sassuolo vs Bologna

Twelfth plays 16th; neither are in any real danger of relegation, so it’s all about grabbing as many points as possible to climb the table. Bologna’s on a dreadful run of form, though, without a win in seven. Odds of 1.99 on a Sassuolo win look quite good to me.

WEEK 28 MONDAY:

Palermo vs Roma

Roma blew a chance to make some ground on Juve, losing at home to rivals Napoli last week. Now, they have a tough Europa tie in Lyon before preparing for Palermo. The hosts are in deep relegation trouble, without a win in four and seven points from safety. Roma need to be ruthless.

WEEK 28 TUESDAY:

Lazio vs Torino

Goalkeeper Joe Hart says he may be happy to extend his stay in Turin. He clearly loves the lifestyle and the weather, and Torino have looked a better outfit for his presence. Sitting in ninth, though, it’s a case of preparing for next season, whereas Lazio are in fourth, still eying the last Champions League slot.
