Inter 2-2 AC Milan
A 97th-minute strike by Cristian Zapata snatched a late, late point for Milan to send their fans into ecstasy and frustrate the hosts in the big derby.
And Rossoneri fans who kept faith to back their heroes with mobile betting were rewarded handsomely. Inter thought they’d done enough to swap places with sixth-placed Milan but in football games like this when the stakes are so high, it ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
It was all Inter in the first period and when Roberto Gagliardini found Antonio Candreva on 36 minutes, the winger fired home from a tight angle to put the hosts ahead. And they pressed home the advantage shortly before the break when Ivan Perisic teed up the prolific Mauro Icardi to make it two.
Vincenzo Montella sent the Rossoneri out for the second half with more purpose, but they had to wait until the 83rd minute to sneak a glimpse of hope when Alessio Romagnoli slotted home to set up a grandstand finish. And then, when Inter seemed all but there, seven minutes into time added, Carlos Bacca found Zapata who fired home from close range to send the crowd wild.
Juventus moved eight points clear at the top as Gonzalo Higuain warmed up for the big Champions League clash with Barca by scoring a first-half double at the Adriatico against bottom club Pescara. The Bianconeri strolled to a 2-0 win.
Edin Dzeko’s second-half equaliser won a point for Roma at home to Atalanta in a 1-1 draw to stay second.
And at the bottom end, Empoli’s Manuel Pasqual slotted home a 93rd-minute penalty to win a crucial and unexpected three points at Fiorentina. The win moves Empoli five points clear of 18th-placed Crotone who had an impressive 1-1 draw at Torino.
