If you want to know about real pressure, take a look at the bottom of the table.
Yes, we all love watching the classic football games festooned with world stars, but for passion, fear and sometimes pure delight you can’t beat a relegation scrap!
It seems likely Hull and Swansea will battle it out to avoid the final relegation spot with five games to go. Very few betting tips suggested the Swans would be in danger last August. But the Tigers have been in the relegation section on betting websites from start to finish.
WEEK 34 SATURDAY:
Swansea City vs Stoke City
A wave of optimism greeted the arrival of Paul Clement at the Liberty Stadium, but after an encouraging upturn in results, the feel-good factor has long gone. A single point from the last six games has left Swansea in 18th, and their talented squad is in trouble. The Potters are safe and won’t roll over, but Clement says this is a must-win.
Hull City vs Watford
Hull boss Marco Silva knows Hull’s game is a must-win too. The Tigers have won their last three home games and lost the last three away, so they know where they can pick up points. Watford have won three of the last four though, albeit all at home. Hull will be desperate to at least maintain their two-point cushion.
West Ham United vs Everton
The Hammers are almost safe, having picked up four points in two games following a worrying losing run. With 37 in the bag they probably only need another point to be sure, but the upwardly mobile Toffees have won four in the last six and will be keen to cement a Europa place. They could finish as high as fifth.
Bournemouth vs Middlesbrough
Another victory for Bournemouth will be enough to win Eddie Howe’s boys another season in the sun, but they’ll be without the injured Jack Wilshere for the remainder of the season. Boro need all the help they can get, but they probably need to double their four wins to survive and I can’t see that happening!
WEEK 34 SUNDAY:
Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
Sam Allardyce knows how to get a team to 17th place, never relegated from the Premier League and it doesn’t look like he will this time. Jurgen Klopp has said Liverpool may be his last managerial job, but whether that’s a few or many years away, this season he desperately wants a top-four place. The Reds should win this one.
