Real Madrid vs Barcelona
La Liga’s elite come head to head on Sunday as Barcelona and Real Madrid meet to contest the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana at the Camp Nou.
It’s a second El Clasico in two weeks for new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde and there are no bigger domestic football games in the world. And his team is backed to win with betting odds of 1.97; Los Blancos are at 3.20 and the draw 3.85.
That would be two in a row for the new Barca boss after his side beat Zinedine Zidane’s La Liga Champions in the ICC in Miami, 3-2, with Gerard Pique’s second half goal winning the game. Los Blancos were also thumped by Manchester City 4-1, while Barcelona have been unbeaten in pre-season with victories over Manchester United and Juventus.
Barca are in the Supercopa as Copa del Rey champions but this season they’ll desperately want to recover the La Liga title. Thing is, they have already been caught out in their preparations by PSG, stumping up the 222m Euros needed to take Neymar to Paris, and are now frantically pursuing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
And they won’t have it all their own way in this game. Real showed their class recently in the UEFA Super Cup with a 2-1 win over Manchester United in a match they bossed for much of the game.
Barcelona may be in good pre-season form but Los Blancos do seem to turn up whenever there’s a trophy to be had.
