The Champions League returns this week with some serious business to be settled in the big Euro football games, and no more so than in Group E where either Sevilla or Liverpool can take a tight grip on their group.
Tuesday
Group E
For the neutrals and sports betting fans, Sevilla against Liverpool is a cracking game. Jurgen Klopp’s men lead the group on eight points with Eduardo Berizzo’s Sevilla a point behind. Both have three wins in the last four, but the loser in this match will be nervously watching Spartak Moscow, currently on five points and at home to Maribor.
Group F
Manchester City have won all four of its games and host Feyenoord, the Dutch trying to get their first point. I’m not holding my breath! Napoli have had a disastrous campaign, with just a single win, and must beat Shakhtar Donetsk, currently on nine points.
Group G
The surprise package of Group G, Besiktas host FC Porto, and with ten points in the bag can look forward to the knockouts. Monaco have a home tie against RB Leipzig and, despite having just two points, still have the visitors, on four points, and Porto on six, in sight. Second place is up for grabs.
Group H
Spurs’ fantastic win over Real Madrid sent Mauricio Pochettino’s side through, and so a visit to Borussia Dortmund, which we expected to be a crucial tie, now holds no fear. Harry Kane, on five goals, has another prize in sight. Real Madrid, on seven points, can confirm their progress with a positive result away to Apoel Nicosia.
Wednesday
Group D
If Juventus slip up in the big match at home to Barcelona, then Sporting Lisbon could catch the Bianconeri with a win at home to Olympiakos. The Portuguese are unbeaten in five in all competitions, and at odds of 1.98 with a one-goal handicap, they will be confident of doing their bit.
Group C
Atletico Madrid’s slender hopes of qualification are hanging by a thread and Diego Simeone’s team must beat Roma, current leaders with eight points. Chelsea can settle their qualification nerves by winning at Qarabag, but the Azerbaijan minnows have just taken two draws from Atletico and are no pushovers.
Group B
The two giants of Group B are home and hosed, and when pointless Anderlecht host Bayern Munich, they face the in-form Germans on a run of seven consecutive wins. Meanwhile, you can get odds of 25.00 on Celtic winning away to PSG, but rather less on either Neymar or Edinson Cavani adding to their four Champions League goals!
Group A
And Jose Mourinho will be delighted that Manchester United have dominated Group A with four wins, but visitors Basel will give them a tough game, desperate for points and sitting on six, the same as CSKA Moscow who host pointless Benfica.
