Now It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas

It certainly is!

The festive tradition of football games on Boxing Day can be a wonderful gift for fans of football betting.

Some matches may have been delayed a day or two for broadcast purposes but most will be played on December 26 and offer an array of festive betting odds.

WEEK 20 TUESDAY:

Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton

Spurs are back up to fifth and within a whisker of a Champions League spot.

Southampton will not be fazed by a trip to Wembley where they were unfortunate to lose last season’s League Cup Final.

An end-to-end contest potentially awaits.

Bournemouth vs West Ham United

Bournemouth were woeful in their 4-0 home defeat to Liverpool and well beaten as they went down by the same scoreline at Man City.

The fact the Cherries are now in the bottom three may well act as a wake-up call.

West Ham are only a point above their opponents, so the importance of this one is clear.

Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion

The fact Brighton have reached the half-way point in the league campaign with 21 points speaks volumes for the good job Chris Hughton is carrying out.

That is just over the mark of 40 points the pre-season favourites for relegation set themselves.

A trip to the reigning champions, however, represents a big gulf in class and resources.

Huddersfield Town vs Stoke City

Stoke gave their manager Mark Hughes a much-needed victory against West Brom, and the majority of the fans backed him too.

They will need another dogged display against the Terriers who are proving the doubters wrong in their maiden Premier League campaign.

Sitting comfortably in 11th spot, six points above the relegation zone, represents tangible progress for this proud Yorkshire club.

Watford vs Leicester City

Aside from a blip at home to Crystal Palace, Leicester have been upwardly mobile under Claude Puel and deserve to be in eighth spot.

That the 2016 champions are considered among the ‘best of the rest’ is a fine achievement.

Watford can also be pleased with their momentum, even if it has slowed down in recent weeks.

West Bromwich Albion vs Everton

It may be harsh to criticise a new manager in Alan Pardew but the Baggies seem no more inspired than they were before sacking Tony Pulis.

Their sequence of 18 matches without a victory is a club record.

Everton, on the other hand, are a different proposition under Sam Allardyce and remain unbeaten under his stewardship.

WEEK 20 WEDNESDAY:

Liverpool vs Swansea City

The Merseysiders are in fourth spot and welcome a club in disarray to Anfield.

The sacking of Paul Clement last week has left the bottom team with yet another managerial vacancy at a crucial time.

It’s unlikely the Swans can repeat their 3-2 victory Clement helped inspire here last term.

WEEK 20 THURSDAY:

Newcastle United vs Manchester City

With the Premier League title race involving just one side, the question now being asked is: can Man City go through the season unbeaten?

Their 13-point lead is the biggest margin a team has ever had at this stage in English top-flight history.

They travel to the North East to face a Newcastle side buoyed by victory at West Ham.

WEEK 20 FRIDAY:

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

This match last season resulted in a thoroughly deserved 3-0 home victory.

A rousing Palace show and one which badly damaged Arsenal’s ultimately unsuccessful bid to claim a top-four spot.

A similar result this time could be equally damaging.
