NBA Trade Deadline
If you were an NBA fan and an avid sports betting enthusiast, you are more than aware of the explosive finale that was the trade deadline. If you kept up with the Woj Bombs and all the other news outlets, you’d know that we were taken in for a ride.
The team that made the most noise during the deadline was the Cleveland Cavaliers. They are desperate to improve their chances of beating live betting favourites Golden State Warriors in the Finals, but the roster wasn’t just working. Dan Gilbert decided to just blow things up and go MyGM Mode on his roster.
They shipped off Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and their own 2018 pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. The two young guns will bring more energy to a Cleveland side that is struggling to get Ws.
Their other big shipment was in a three-way deal that got them Utah’s young scorer in Rodney Hood and Sacramento’s George Hill. They then sent out Iman Shumpert to the Kings while Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose are headed to Salt Lake City. Dwyane Wade also got his wish to return to Miami as the Cavs sent him home for a 2024 second-round pick.
The Cavaliers roster now looks more dangerous than ever as they finally got younger legs that can run and shoot with the best of them. The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors should up their guards against this new-look Cavaliers.
There were also other trades that happened in the deadline: Devin Harris, Emmanuel Mudiay and Doug McDermott shuffled their teams while Elfrid Payton was traded to the Phoenix Suns for a second-round pick.
The window was exciting, and the remainder of the season will be just as hectic. If these trades didn’t get you intrigued enough to bet, I don’t know what will.
