Basketball season is back in full swing, and the sports betting world can’t get enough of NBA action!
The season openers were grand live betting events that gave spills and thrills for many fans. Tomorrow will be the season openers for the rest of the league, and there’s one question to ask.
Which teams are worth your free bets?
Brooklyn Nets @ Indiana Pacers (October 19, 07:00 GMT+8)
Both teams are in a state of flux following the radical transformations they went through in the summer. D’Angelo Russell and Victor Oladipo are the biggest names amongst the new faces, but the game rests in the hands of a familiar one. If Kenny Atkinson cannot find a way to stop Myles Turner, this game is as good as lost.
Philadelphia 76ers @ Washington Wizards (October 19, 07:00 GMT+8)
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the 76ers, given that Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Markelle Fultz will be playing their first official NBA game together. However, I don’t think their potential can hold up a candle to John Wall and the Washington Wizards. Make a bet on Washington -7.50 @ 2.03.
Charlotte Hornets @ Detroit Pistons (October 19, 07:00 GMT+8)
The Dwight Howard experiment officially begins in Charlotte as they head to Motor City and face the Pistons. While the preseason already had some Shaqtin’ moments from him, Howard and the Hornets are the better team. Charlotte’s +3.00 Asian Handicap rewards you with 1.95 odds.
Miami Heat @ Orlando Magic (October 19, 07:00 GMT+8)
Miami’s NBA opener is a derby between their home squads.
Orlando aren’t the hottest team in the league, and there’s no sure player on their 15-man roster that will perform consistently. Meanwhile, Miami are hopeful that the fantastic run the Heat were in last season will resume today. I also think the Heat will burn whatever Magic Frank Vogel comes up with, so your punt should be on Miami -3.50 @ 2.02.
Milwaukee Bucks @ Boston Celtics (October 19, 07:30 GMT+8)
Giannis Antetokounmpo will be bringing his stellar play to Boston as they will try to pry a win against an injured Celtics side.
The C’s took a terrible blow when Gordon Hayward suffered a horrific injury in their debut game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have to pick up the slack and handle the tough task of stopping the Greek Freak.
New Orleans Pelicans @ Memphis Grizzlies (October 19, 08:00 GMT+8)
Both of these teams are standing at a fork in a road: is the DeMarcus Cousins-Anthony Davis experiment in New Orleans a failure? Should the Grit-And-Grind Grizzlies blow it up after losing players that built their core?
Putting the questions aside, I think this game will be interesting. Both have interesting talents on their roster. This game will be close enough to warrant a nice punt on the Pelicans +2.50 @ 1.96.
Atlanta Hawks @ Dallas Mavericks (October 19, 08:30 GMT+8)
The Hawks are another team that is unsure about their future. Dennis Schroder is still a serviceable point guard, but the departure of Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dwight Howard put a dent to their firepower. I don’t think they have the tools to answer to a promising Dallas team. Dallas -6.50 @ 2.03 is a great option to consider.
Denver Nuggets @ Utah Jazz (October 19, 09:00 GMT+8)
This is the game I’d most likely recommend to people who want to see big men in action.
This match will be a duel between two schools of thought when it comes to big men. Rudy Gobert is the poster boy for fans who like their centres big and mean under the rim. Nikola Jokic gets whistles from the crowd with his guard-like passing and offensive prowess.
It will be a treat to see these giants in action, but I think Rodney Hood’s questionable condition makes this a win for Denver. Make a +2.50 @ 1.86 punt for the visitors.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ San Antonio Spurs (October 19, 09:30 GMT+8)
This will be Jimmy Butler’s first official NBA game as a part of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and I expect nothing less than a win from them. Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker are out for the game while they have a full-strength squad. Make a punt for Minnesota +1.50 @ 1.94.
Portland Trail Blazers @ Phoenix Suns (October 19, 10:00 GMT+8)
Cj McCollum won’t be available for Portland’s season opener, so there’s a better chance for Phoenix to bag an upset. However, I don’t know if they can actually stop Damian Lillard from dropping points the way he is dropping bars as Dame D.O.L.L.A.
It’s an easy bet for Portland -2.00 @ 1.98.
Houston Rockets @ Sacramento Kings (October 19, 10:00 GMT+8)
The Houston Rockets had a ton of mistakes during their season opener against the Warriors, but heroics from Eric Gordon and the rest of the Rockets helped spoil the ring ceremony at the Oracle Arena. I doubt they’ll have any difficulty moving up north and quickly dispatching the Sacramento Kings.
