Another series of exciting basketball awaits NBA sports betting fans as the top dogs of the Western Conference return to action on Tuesday to solidify their positions in the standings.
The Warriors, Spurs and Rockets are comfortably positioned at the perch, but the Jazz will be looking to join them and establish their selves as online betting favourites for the title.
Meanwhile, the Clippers and Thunder will aim to defy the betting odds despite their problems and retain their standing as the second half of the season continues.
Washington Wizards @ Charlotte Hornets (January 24, 08:00 GMT+8)
A 5-14 record on the road—highlighted by their buzzer-beating defeat yesterday—is something that the Wizards will worry about as they visit Spectrum Center. Charlotte are also on a roll, so they are expected to take advantage of Washington’s poor away performance and level the season series against them.
That being said, I’ll go for the Hornets -4.50 @ 2.03.
San Antonio Spurs @ Brooklyn Nets (January 24, 08:30 GMT+8)
After taking down the Cavs, the Spurs will certainly look to extend their winning run. Their 3s might not be falling at the rate they expected, but their overall game on both ends of the floor is something to be feared – especially for Brooklyn who received a 29-point thrashing from them over a month ago.
If you’re punting, San Antonio -12.00 for 1.94 is an easy choice.
Golden State Warriors @ Miami Heat (January 24, 08:30 GMT+8)
Golden State are playing their third road game in four days, so Steve Kerr will probably give limited minutes to his death lineup. However, the injury-ravaged Heat squad cannot hope for an easy battle as the Warriors, with their productive bench unit, remain a force to be reckoned.
Miami could pose some challenge but I don’t think it will be a competitive match, so I’ll pick the Warriors -11.00 for 1.90.
LA Clippers @ Atlanta Hawks (January 24, 08:30 GMT+8)
In the absence of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, the Clippers are facing another winless stretch. They haven’t won since losing Paul in their Oklahoma game, and that is likely to continue against the soaring Hawks who have been displaying top-notch defence over their last two matches.
Sacramento Kings @ Detroit Pistons (January 24, 08:30 GMT+8)
This game will be the chance for Sacramento to snap their losing skid and climb their way back into playoff contention. They defeated Detroit two weeks ago, and they are more than capable of doing it again with DeMarcus Cousins providing consistent double-double performances. Though, they will still need to be cautious of Reggie Jackson and Tobias Harris who are pivotal in the Pistons’ three-game win streak.
Cleveland Cavaliers @ New Orleans Pelicans (January 24, 09:00 GMT+8)
Although Cleveland have allowed their opponents in the past two games to shoot above 40 percent from the field, it shouldn’t pose much of a problem against the slumping New Orleans. Moreover, the Cavs’ top-five offence should be able to flourish against the Pelicans’ defence that was completely demolished by the Nets last Saturday.
This one is another no-brainer. Choose the Cavaliers -6.50 for 1.95.
Houston Rockets @ Milwaukee Bucks (January 24, 09:00 GMT+8)
The reverse fixture between the Rockets and Bucks should end up like their battle five days ago. Defence is still the issue for Milwaukee, and it just got worse following their losses to Orlando and Miami. Hence, the Rockets should be able to pile more misery on the home team with their high-octane offensive system. Go for Houston -5.00 for 1.97.
New York Knicks @ Indiana Pacers (January 24, 09:00 GMT+8)
Losing against the West’s bottom team isn’t an encouraging sign for the Knicks who have now lost four of their last five. Carmelo Anthony’s strained relationship with Phil Jackson shouldn’t also help them when they face the Paul George-led Indiana bolstered with a much-improved attack.
Even though this game could turn into a tight one, the Pacers -6.00 for 2.02 looks like a deal worth considering.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Utah Jazz (January 24, 10:00 GMT+8)
With Gordon Hayward proving his case as an All-Star and Rudy Gobert as the best centre, Utah’s rise is expected to continue. They have been unstoppable since taking down the Cavaliers, and the inconsistent Thunder—who are struggling offensively—are unlikely to stop them even with Russell Westbrook’s triple-double exploits.
With that in mind, Utah -6.00 for 2.03 should be a good bet.
