With Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and Danny Green back in action, the Spurs will surely be hard to stop. The Nuggets learned that the hard way the last time out, and it’s likely the league-worst Hawks will suffer the same fate considering that they even failed to get the W against the shorthanded Nets last Saturday. If you’re punting, pick the Spurs -7.50 @ 1.96.
New York Knicks @ Brooklyn Nets (January 16, 04:00 GMT+8)
Both the Knicks and Nets always come to play when they are up against each other, so it shouldn’t be different this time. New York, however, will enter the game in high spirits knowing that they already defeated Brooklyn twice behind Kristaps Porzingis and Courtney Lee. With that in mind, I suggest betting on the Knicks +2.00 @ 1.98.
Miami Heat @ Chicago Bulls (January 16, 04:30 GMT+8)
Miami got a pair of close victories against Utah and Toronto last week and have now won seven straight to climb into fourth in the Eastern Conference. It will be a tall order for the Heat to beat the Bulls a day after playing the Bucks, but Chicago’s inconsistent defence should give them a good shot at extending their streak. Miami +1.00 @ 1.90 is the way to go for me.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Memphis Grizzlies (January 16, 06:30 GMT+8)
Brandon Ingram’s absence is a huge blow for the Lakers. He has been at his best this month of January, and Los Angeles will undoubtedly miss his all-around play when they visit Memphis who beat them by 10 points last December. Oh, and Ingram scored 23 in that game!
Sacramento Kings @ Oklahoma City Thunder (January 16, 09:30 GMT+8)
It’s been a rocky period for Oklahoma as they lost four of their seven games this month. They are still fifth out West, but their defence has been horrible in the absence of Andre Roberson. Fortunately, they don’t need to thrive in that department when they host Sacramento that rank as one of the league’s worst offensive teams. That being said, the smart money is on the Thunder to win on -11.50 @ 1.96.
Golden State Warriors @ Cleveland Cavaliers (January 16, 09:00 GMT+8)
Allowing Toronto and Indiana launch a combined 63 three-pointers shows how porous Cleveland’s defence has been this season. Of course, that’s not something new; nonetheless, they need to step up (even a little bit) from that area when they face the Warriors.
Golden State boast the best offence in the league, and we all know what happens if you leave Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant unguarded.
Even though I believe this game will be tight, the Bay Area team on -5.50 @ 2.05 is a tempting choice to make.

Injuries continue to slow down Utah, and it’s not looking good for them as they face a surging Indiana squad. The story of this matchup is Chris Paul’s return to Staples Center against his former team. CP3’s breakup with the Clips wasn’t amicable, so there will be tension here. Nevertheless, Doc Rivers’ men have a slight edge given that James Harden is still out for the Rockets.
