While the game was close due to Stan Van Gundy still figuring out the rotations, it gave Pistons fans more than enough reason to look forward to at least five years with the star forward.
Toronto Raptors 119-122 Washington Wizards
The Wizards gave their fans reason to cheer as they edge closer to the Top Four of the Eastern Conference. Bradley Beal was nothing short of incredible for the hosting Wizards: he ended the night with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists on 45% shooting.
DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry had 23 and 29 points respectively for the Raptors, but what did them in was a lack of production from their bench. Three of Washington’s rotation players scored in double digits, helping them turn a half-time deficit into a narrow victory.
Milwaukee Bucks 89-108 Minnesota Timberwolves
This game was secured from the very first quarter alone.
Tom Thibodeau did a fantastic job in ensuring that Giannis Antetokounmpo wouldn’t get a lot of easy shots, forcing him to only take 14 shot attempts in 35 minutes of action. Andrew Wiggins, Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns then went into town and pounded the Bucks to submission.
Houston Rockets 102-91 San Antonio Spurs
The Rockets made it clear that they are the Texas ballclub that matters with this win over the Spurs.
James Harden took the PG position this game and had an outstanding outing, scoring 28 points and delivering 11 dimes. Chris Paul was only a few points shy of being a non-factor in the offence, but the rest of the team picked up the slack and secured the W.
Oklahoma City Thunder 124-127
Denver saw a thriller of a game between their Nuggets and the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder.
The first quarter was an explosion of offence, with the Nuggets leading over the Thunder 40-33. The game went in favour of the Nuggets in the subsequent quarters, but the Thunder pulled off an incredible fourth quarter. The final seconds of the game saw Paul George tie the game with only a second left in the clock, only to have Will Barton counter with a three of his own.
This game is something the Mile High City will be talking about for days.
