This year’s NBA free agency has been one of the craziest that we’ve witnessed in a while, as we’ve seen a lot of player movement – changing the league’s landscape in the process.
The NBA 2019 news featured the vast majority of big-name players signing up for various teams. Despite this, there are still some quality free agents that are yet to be signed – and there’s no doubt that they could help out a team one way or another.
SBOBET takes a look at some of the best free agents that are still available on the open market.
If your team is looking for some source of hustle and defence, getting a guy like Kenneth Faried is the way to go.
Faried started off last season being buried on the bench for the Brooklyn Nets. However, he found new life when he was traded to the Houston Rockets last January. He started 13 games for a much-better Rockets team and tallied norms of 16.2 points on 58.8-percent from the field, 10.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in that span.
More importantly, he has been efficient despite playing limited minutes for the most part. Faried posted averages of at least 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game under 25 minutes since the 2012 NBA season.
He may be undersized at 6’8’’, but he will bring his boundless energy and motor to make an impact on both ends. He can gobble up rebounds, block shots, and excel as a roll man in pick-and-roll situations. He’s called “The Manimal” for a reason.
Over the past few years, Jeremy Lin has proven himself to be a serviceable backup point guard in the NBA.
Last 2019 season, Lin posted solid numbers for the young Atlanta Hawks, averaging 11.5 points, 3.8 assists on 47.6-percent shooting from the field in 45 games. He was eventually traded to the Toronto Raptors and earned for himself an NBA title.
When fully healthy, the Taiwanese sensation can drive to either finish or make plays for his teammates. He can also knock down threes when needed to keep the defence honest.
Having reliable facilitators in your roster is certainly a commodity in today’s game and age, and having a guy like Jeremy Lin fits the bill for teams out there.
Even at age 35, Thabo Sefolosha remains to be one of the top 3-and-D specialists in the market.
The Swiss native currently stands at 6’7’’ and has the length and mobility to guard some of the league’s best scorers. His overall IQ and experience continue to make him one of the NBA’s most respected veterans.
Not only can he play defence, he can also knock down shots efficiently from outside the arc. Last year, Sefolosha shot a career-best 43.6-percent from three and has become a key part of the Utah Jazz’s offence.
However, there are concerns about his durability as he’s only played more than 70 games in just five seasons.
It’s no secret that Vince Carter would still want to play in the league, and he wants a suitable team that can provide minutes for him to play.
The 21-year veteran has surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the oldest player in league history to lead the team in scoring for a game (41 years, 337 days), when he chipped in 21 points in 23 minutes in a game against the Miami Heat last season.
He also leads all active players in games played (1,481), which is a huge testament to his work ethic and longevity. From time to time, he would show off some of his old hops – adding on to some of the best NBA 2019 highlights.
Carter is also a capable outside shooter, shooting 38.9-percent from distance last season. But more importantly, he can take on a mentorship role for younger players in the league as well.
Scoring is something Carmelo Anthony excels at – but his penchant in doing so might have cost him a roster spot in today’s NBA.
He played in 10 games for the Houston Rockets last year. However, he was later traded to the Chicago Bulls and was released subsequently.
When put in the right team — the 10-time all-star is better suited as reinforcement off the bench – it’s just a matter of whether he’s willing to accept that role.
The former Syracuse standout may no longer be what he used to be but he would certainly be able to provide meaningful minutes as a 10 to 20-minute per-game scorer. All in all, Anthony posts career norms of 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists for his 16-year career.
