NBA Preview: Lakers Look to Take Win Streak to Double Digits

The Los Angeles Lakers are no strangers to long winning streaks. This NBA season, they’ve already racked up one such streak that went up to 10 games in a row. They will now have a chance to match that mark as they host the Orlando Magic, who have begun 2020 on a bright note.

Meanwhile, SBOBET NBA fans may fancy wagering on a trio of Eastern Conference teams in the Celtics, 76ers, and Heat will look to improve their terrific home records as they take on teams with losing records.

Detroit Pistons @ Boston Celtics

Despite Derrick Rose’s best efforts, the shorthanded Pistons still can’t buy a win. They’ve lost three in a row — all at home — two of which have come in overtime.

And it won’t get any easier as they pay a visit to the Celtics, who have steadied the ship after a recent three-game skid. They blew out the Pelicans by 35 points and beat the Bulls by 12 as they improved their impressive home record to 16-3. But barring anything completely out of the blue, they’re going to get win No. 17.

Betting Tip: Celtics Asian Handicap -9.00 @ 1.90

San Antonio Spurs @ Miami Heat

The Heat have hit a bit of a slump, losing back-to-back games for the first time all season after road losses to both New York teams. But they have the perfect solution to end that mini skid: a home game. The Heat are an NBA-best 17-1 at home this season.

However, they could potentially find a visit from the Spurs a bit more difficult. San Antonio may only be 6-12 on the road this season, but they’ve defied the NBA 2020 betting odds by beating two excellent home teams in the Celtics and the Raptors in recent days, so the Heat better be ready.

Betting Tip: Spurs Asian Handicap +5.00 @ 1.96

Brooklyn Nets @ Philadelphia 76ers

Even with Kyrie Irving back, the Nets couldn’t stop the Jazz’s impressive winning streak as they lost 118-107 last night in Brooklyn. Although, Irving once again looked good with 32 points and 11 assists after putting up 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting in just 20 minutes against the Hawks.

But Kyrie and the Nets will be hard-pressed to beat the Philadelphia 76ers, who are 18-2 at home this season. While they’ve lost back-to-back games on the road, they did beat the Celtics at home despite missing the injured Joel Embiid.

Betting Tip: 76ers Asian Handicap -7.50 @ 1.94

Toronto Raptors @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Speaking of the Raptors, they’re finally getting healthy as both Pascal Siakam and Norman Powell returned to the lineup against the Spurs.

They will need those two to be at their best against the streaking Thunder, who have won eight of their last 10 games. OKC pulled off an impressive win over the Raptors in Toronto. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who made history with his 20-rebound triple-double, scored a career-high 32 points in that game.

Betting Tip: Raptors Asian Handicap +1.50 @ 2.02

Washington Wizards @ Chicago Bulls

The Wizards got some much-needed reinforcements with the return of both Bradley Beal and Thomas Bryant to the lineup against the Jazz.

Beal’s return, in particular, should give the Wizards a much better shot of picking up a win against the struggling Bulls, who have lost seven of their last eight games.

Betting Tip: Wizards Asian Handicap +4.50 @ 1.94

Indiana Pacers @ Minnesota Timberwolves

The Pacers have had their problems on the road this season, but they’ve picked up back-to-back blowout victories away from home against the Hornets and Bulls. Meanwhile, Malcolm Brogdon’s return helped inspire their big win over the Sixers.

Indiana will like their chances of making it a hat-trick of road wins as they take on the Timberwolves, who are still without All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

Charlotte Hornets @ Denver Nuggets

The Hornets are looking so horrendous right now. They’ve dropped their last five games in a row and are just 2-11 in their last 13 games. They came close to snapping that skid against Portland, with Terry Rozier and Devonte Graham combining for 52 points, but they still came up short.

However, their chances of picking up a win in Denver against the Nuggets are pretty slim. The Nuggets are 16-5 at home this season and are coming off a big home win over the Clippers. Nikola Jokic is looking back to his best in 2020, averaging 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the first six games of the year.

Portland Trail Blazers @ Houston Rockets

The Blazers haven’t gone on a winning streak in quite a while. They’ve gone just 3-8 in their last 11 games despite the best efforts of Damian Lillard, who has consistently put up 30 points per game.

But Portland may have to wait a little longer for that win streak as they take on the Rockets. Houston will be eager to bounce back after a loss to the Grizzlies on the first night of a back-to-back. Russell Westbrook missed out, but he should be back to offer James Harden some much-needed help.

Dallas Mavericks @ Sacramento Kings

The Mavs have responded to back-to-back home losses against the Nuggets and Lakers by blowing out the 76ers and Warriors by 18 and 27 points, respectively. Luka Doncic has taken a backseat as Dwight Powell surprisingly led the team in scoring in both games.

The Mavs have been much better on the road this season, so they won’t be fazed when they visit a struggling Kings team in Sacramento. The Kings have dropped back-to-back home games to the Bucks and Magic and are just 2-8 in their last 10 games at Golden 1 Center.

Orlando Magic @ Los Angeles Lakers

The Magic’s NBA 2020 results have been pretty promising. They’ve gone 5-2 in their first seven games of the year, with big blowout wins over the Wizards (twice) and Heat.

But Orlando will definitely need magic to escape LA with a win. The Lakers are on quite a roll at the moment, winning nine games in a row. And that’s with Anthony Davis missing time due to his bruised back. LeBron James has scored 30 points in three straight games and is more than capable of leading the Lakers to a 10th straight win over Orlando.
