It was another thrilling night of terrific NBA action on Monday. There were a couple of major upsets out on the West Coast as the last undefeated team in the league in the Philadelphia 76ers finally fell at the hands of the surprising Suns.
There were also a handful of huge scoring performances from the likes of James Harden, Devin Booker, Brandon Ingram, and Kyrie Irving which captivated SBOBET NBA fans everywhere.
For anyone who was unable to catch all the action, here’s a quick recap of everything that went down in the six games on the schedule.
Detroit Pistons 99-115 Washington Wizards
The shorthanded Detroit Pistons dropped their third road game in a row as they fell to the Wizards in Washington D.C. Still without the injured duo of Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson, the Pistons lacked the firepower to keep up with their hosts.
Luke Kennard led the way for the Pistons with 24 points. Meanwhile, Andre Drummond had his streak of consecutive 20-20 games snapped as he was limited to just 15 points on only 6-of-20 shooting with 24 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Wizards’ win snapped a three-game losing skid as they improved to 2-4 on the season. Bradley Beal led a balanced attack with 22 points. Eight Wizards players finished with at least nine points as they got 53 points off their bench.
New Orleans Pelicans 125-135 Brooklyn Nets
The Pelicans and Nets played arguably the game of the night as Brandon Ingram and Kyrie Ingram engaged in an old-fashioned shootout. Ingram was incredible as he finished with a career-high 40 points, but Irving — who finished with 39 of his own — and the Nets eventually pulled away to claim the home win.
Irving had a lot of help from Caris LeVert and Joe Harris, who combined for 42 points and eight 3-pointers. Jarrett Allen also had 18 points and 10 rebounds as he played big minutes after DeAndre Jordan suffered an ankle injury.
The struggling Pelicans, who recently got their first win of the season, are now 1-6 on the season — tied with the New York Knicks for the worst record in the league.
Houston Rockets 107-100 Memphis Grizzlies
James Harden got cooking once again in Memphis. With running mate Russell Westbrook sitting out their game against the Grizzlies, Harden put up 44 points — his third 40-point game of the season — to lead the Rockets to a narrow road win.
The Rockets had lost back-to-back games to the Nets and Heat with Houston’s supporting cast struggling to provide Harden with the help he needed. They once again had a rough shooting night against the Grizzlies (just 37 per cent as a team) but Harden did enough to carry them to victory.
Rookie point guard Ja Morant continued to produce NBA 2019 highlights with a team-high 23 points in just 28 minutes, while Dillon Brooks added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have now lost three games in a row.
Milwaukee Bucks 134-106 Minnesota Timberwolves
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks made short work of the Karl-Anthony Towns-less Minnesota Timberwolves as they romped to a dominating road win.
Antetokounmpo had another MVP-calibre game as he finished with 34 points on 14-of-19 shooting with 15 rebounds and six assists in just 27 minutes of action. Khris Middleton added 26 points and Eric Bledsoe chipped in with 22 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for the Bucks.
Andrew Wiggins had a team-high 25 points for the Timberwolves, who played their second and final game without Towns after getting suspended for his altercation with Joel Embiid. The star big man has had a strong start to the season, and the Wolves missed him.
The Wolves won their first game without Towns against the Washington Wizards, 131-109, as six players had at least 14 points. But they fell back down to earth against the Bucks, who held Minnesota to just 36 per cent shooting from the field.
Philadelphia 76ers 109-114 Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns continue to prove they are for real. The Suns improved to 5-2 on the season after defying the NBA 2019 odds and handing the Philadelphia 76ers their first defeat of the season.
Devin Booker had another brilliant game as he finished with 40 points on a wildly efficient 15-of-19 from the field. Backcourt mate Ricky Rubio added 21 points and 10 assists.
The 76ers, who were also playing their second and final game without All-Star big man Joel Embiid, were simply unable to cope with Phoenix’s guards. Ben Simmons and Josh Richardson were completely outplayed by their Suns counterparts as they finished with just 14 points on 5-of-19 shooting.
Al Horford stepped up in Embiid’s absence as he dropped a team-high 32 points. Tobias Harris added 24 points and 10 rebounds while Furkan Korkmaz — who hit the game-winner in their dramatic victory over the Portland Trail Blazers — had 20 points.
Portland Trail Blazers 118-127 Golden State Warriors
The injury-hit Golden State Warriors pulled off the upset of the night as they beat the Portland Trail Blazers to claim their first win at the new Chase Center.
With Stephen Curry and Draymond Green out, Eric Paschall was the hero for the Warriors. The rookie forward finished with a career-best 36 points and 13 rebounds in 40 minutes. Fellow rookies Ky Bowman and Jordan Poole also combined for 35 points as the Warriors improved to 2-5 on the season.
The Blazers got 39 points from star point guard Damian Lillard and a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds from Hassan Whiteside, but their defence against the shorthanded Warriors was simply abysmal. CJ McCollum also had a silent night, finishing with just 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting.
