With the Rockets losing for the first time in the last eight, the Jazz now hold the longest active streak in the NBA and they’ll look to extend it tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Clippers, Heat, Cavaliers, Spurs, and Sixers have some business to settle at home, while we’ll be treated to a battle of upstarts in the Rockets and Grizzlies over at the FedEx Forum.
Without further ado, read on below as SBOTOP previews tomorrow’s seven-game slate.
Orlando Magic @ Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers have a packed schedule in these next few days and they’ll be licking their chops upon hosting the struggling Magic at Staples Center.
Orlando have the league’s worst net rating, defensive rating, and third-worst offensive rating, but they have players who can cause problems such as Cole Anthony and Wendell Carter Jr.
Paul George missed their previous game vs. the Celtics as he’s been dealing with an elbow injury and he’s questionable for this upcoming contest.
With him probably out, the likes of Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris Sr., and Luke Kennard will have to shoulder the load while Terance Mann and Brandon Boston Jr. will try to provide additional firepower.
This will be the first matchup this season between these two teams. And although the Clippers are favoured by the NBA 2021 odds, they cannot take the Magic for granted.
Utah Jazz @ Washington Wizards
The Jazz will aim to sweep their ongoing four-game road trip by trying to beat the Wizards.
After a hot start to this season, the Jazz had a difficult stretch in November where they went 5-6, but kudos to them for turning it around.
Utah have been doing it by committee as shown during their convincing victory over Philadelphia where eight different players scored in double digits.
Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert remain the key men to look out for if you’re the Wizards, and they’re being supported by Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, and Bojan Bogdanovic.
The Wizards have been generally solid despite their mini-slump and they’re coming off of a thrilling win over the Pistons last Thursday, so the Jazz cannot let their guard down.
Betting Tip – Utah Jazz Asian Handicap -5.00 @ 1.95
Chicago Bulls @ Miami Heat
Two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference will go head-to-head in what will be a fun matchup, although both won’t be able to field in their strongest lineups.
The Heat will be without at least four players for this matchup while the Bulls’ roster is ravaged by COVID-19.
Jimmy Butler is dealing with a tailbone injury. Bam Adebayo has missed the past five games due to a thumb surgery. Markieff Morris has a neck issue, while Victor Oladipo has yet to make an appearance this season.
As for the Bulls, DeMar DeRozan, Derrick Jones Jr., Matt Thomas, Javonte Green, and Coby White were all placed in the league’s health and safety protocols, while Alex Caruso is questionable due to a strained hamstring.
Sacramento Kings @ Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are to commence their three-game homestand starting with the Kings, who have shown steady improvement under Alvin Gentry.
Alvin Gentry was named interim head coach when Sacramento fired Luke Walton. And since then, they’ve moved up to 10th in the Western Conference standings by winning five of their last nine.
Cleveland, on the other hand, are at sixth in the Eastern Conference and they’re at the back of two consecutive blowout wins over the Bulls and the Timberwolves.
Houston Rockets @ Memphis Grizzlies
After seeing their win streak halted by the Bucks, the Rockets aim to bounce back when they’ll visit Memphis tomorrow.
Houston fought valiantly against Milwaukee in a tight contest. But in the end, the Bucks just showed why they’re the defending champions.
The Grizzlies, meanwhile, continue to cope well without Ja Morant as they’re coming off of a 108-95 win over the Lakers.
Denver Nuggets @ San Antonio Spurs
Denver look to avenge their previous defeat as they’ll continue their mini-series against San Antonio tomorrow.
The Spurs were 123-111 winners in yesterday’s matchup as they were led by Derrick White, Dejounte Murray, and Lonnie Walker IV – who combined for 64 points.
Nikola Jokic logged his third straight triple-double for the Nuggets. However, the Spurs’ advantage on the glass (54-33) and bench scoring (47-28) proved to be the difference.
Betting Tip – Denver Nuggets Asian Handicap -1.50 @ 1.93
Golden State Warriors @ Philadelphia Sixers
Tomorrow’s NBA 2021 news is going to be centered around Steph Curry, who is bound to achieve another historical feat.
Steph Curry is 10 three-pointers shy from breaking Ray Allen’s long-standing record for most NBA career three-pointers, and he can do it as soon as tomorrow against the Sixers.
The two-time MVP has hit at least five threes in his last four outings and it won’t be too long for him to be heralded as the greatest three-point shooter ever.
