A 40-point fourth quarter was not enough for the Nets as they fall to the consistent Cavaliers. Despite hitting only 27.3 percent from beyond the arc, Cleveland got a much-needed lift from the Big Three who combined for 85 points, with LeBron James registering 36.
Philadelphia 76ers 106-110 Boston Celtics
Boston escaped with a win over Philadelphia after trailing by as much as 14 points in the game. Al Horford came up big for the Celtics as he scored 14 of his 19 points in the fourth frame, including the go-ahead trifecta that gave them the lead with 17.2 seconds remaining.
Avery Bradley flirted with a double-double – making 26 points and nine rebounds – while Joel Embiid spearheaded the Sixers’ run with 23 points.
New York Knicks 116-111 Milwaukee Bucks
Using a 33-15 fourth quarter, the Knicks turned the tables and got their revenge with the Bucks after getting robbed in their Thursday clash. Carmelo Anthony steered the Knicks’ comeback victory as he finished with 26 points and ten assists – including the three-pointer in the final minute that gave them the lead for good.
Both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker made 25 points, but an awful display in the last canto rendered their efforts useless.
Memphis Grizzlies 128-119 Golden State Warriors
Memphis opened overtime with an 8-2 run, and they never looked back from there to upset Golden State.
The Warriors led by 19 entering the final period, but a 32-13 fourth quarter capped by Mike Conley’s game-tying step back jumper paved the way for the Grizzlies’ thrilling victory at Oracle Arena. Six players scored in double digits for Memphis with Conley finishing with 27 points, while the Dubs had Steph Curry firing for 40.
Miami Heat 100-127 Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers cruised to an easy victory, thanks in large part to the absence of Hassan Whiteside and the ejection of Goran Dragic in the third quarter.
Playing without their key starters, Miami got outscored right from the start, and Dragic’s departure made matters worse for them as the Lakers dominated the final 12 minutes of play. Lou Williams made 19 of his 24 points in the fourth while Luol Deng provided consistent energy with his 19 points and 14 boards.
Los Angeles also outrebounded Miami, 62-41.
LA Clippers 106-98 Sacramento Kings
Chris Paul’s return became historic as he passed Rod Stickland for tenth on the NBA all-time assists and Isiah Thomas for 15th on the all-time steals list.
Paul made 12 assists and three steals to go with his 14 points and help the Clippers continue their winning run after what could only be described as an ugly stretch of six consecutive defeats.
Austin Rivers and DeAndre Jordan were also huge for the Clips, scoring 24 and 20 respectively.
