With Blake Griffin not eligible to play until well past their important game against the Sixers, Stan Van Gundy would have to do everything he can to get the low-scoring Pistons into a favourable situation. Things look bleak, but they have to power through this ordeal. Else, their mid-season trade would be all for nought.
This is the Wild, Wild West
The star-studded Western Conference could see a lot of drastic changes as the teams from spot numbers four to ten could make an impactful run in these last couple of games.
The Denver Nuggets and the LA Clippers are looking especially dangerous to the New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s quite amazing how the Clippers managed to get to this point despite enduring multiple injuries to their stars. Meanwhile, the young Nuggets are playing inspired basketball behind their fearsome twosome of Nikola Jokic and Gary Harris. New Orleans’ Anthony Davis and the Wolves’ young stars need to do everything they can in order to keep them away.
The rest of the table looks as unstable as ever. The Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder will likely battle for the final top seed in the Conference. The Spurs have the easiest schedules of the bunch and will likely secure the home-court edge in the playoffs.
However, we have to remember that the West is chock-full of teams with amazing talent. Anything can happen over the next seven days, and the playoff bracket by then may well be different!
