What are the Betting Odds on the Big One?

With a respectful nod to all the football games in Serie A this weekend, none of the nine will compare with the one that precedes it.

For all the talk is of one clash in the San Siro which will send sports betting into a frenzy.

Dries Martens inspired Napoli to win at Genoa and return to the summit, so the arrival of lowly Sassuolo to Naples should hold few fears.

Atalanta’s clinical dispatching of Hellas Verona makes the trip to Udinese a battle of two evenly matched outfits.

After Lazio edged Bologna, they will be confident of maintaining their top-four berth when they travel to bottom club and, so far, point-less Benevento.

After Cagliari saw them off in midweek, what chance a second win in a week against Torino, themselves on the wrong end of a drubbing at the hands of Fiorentina.

La Viola are just outside the European places as they prepare to visit Crotone, themselves on the fringes of the drop zone but showing spirit.

And so it goes on with Verona welcoming second-placed Inter, SPAL hosting Genoa in what already looks like a six-pointer, Sampdoria entertaining Chievo who are hot on their heels, and Roma welcoming Bologna to the capital.

But it’s none of those games which capture the imagination because Milan welcome multiple champions Juventus to town.

The Rossoneri are already nine points adrift of the Old Lady, and anything but a victory will surely seem them drop out of the title chase.

Naturally, much of the pre-match talk will be about new Milan skipper Leonardo Bonucci, even though he is suspended and unable to face his former team after his shock summer move from Turin.

Widely considered to be one of the best centre-backs in the game, the ‘steal of the summer’ as it was dubbed by many hasn’t quite worked out that way so far.

Not that he’s the only person among the new arrivals at the club to struggle.

Juventus have also struggled since his departure – something they were angry about – and there is a far more vulnerable back line at Juve than in recent years.

While talk is about Bonucci, once the whistle goes it will be about those out on the pitch.

Milan-Juventus conjures up wonderful memories and both sides have some wonderful players.

Let’s hope this is another special occasion, even with all the current imperfections and with a high profile absent friend.

Spare a penny for the thoughts of the watching-on Bonucci.

And good luck too to the man in the middle, Paolo Valeri.

History tells us this could be fiesty!
