VfL Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund
It’s an exciting time to be a Borussia Dortmund fan, and supporters can only hope that only good things keep on coming for their beloved BVB.
They are still holding the top spot of the Bundesliga, but the defending champions aren’t that far off as Bayern Munich managed to win two of their last matches. Meanwhile, they were denied of the three points when they played the league’s latest game day.
I’m sure that Lucien Favre was frustrated with how things went and will be looking to extend their run with another win, and his men should be more than willing to do that. However, they must do everything they can to guard against complacency.
While Wolfsburg just recently managed to stop a seven-game winless streak, it cannot be denied that they are looking their weakest at the moment. Die Wolfe need to pull off a superb result if they want to ruin Dortmund’s day!
Talking Points
Borussia Dortmund’s performance against Hertha Berlin is a curious one for several reasons. The Swiss tactician’s approach to the game was implemented fully by the players on the pitch as they managed to enjoy a lot of the football for huge chunks of the game.
However, they weren’t able to convert many of their shot attempts to actual goals as Berlin were able to somewhat keep a solid wall against Dortmund’s attacks. Moreover, Salomon Kalou was able to steal the points away from Dortmund when he converted two important attacking chances for the Blue-Whites.
Fortunately for Favre, he has the luxury to just brush the result off and keep their eyes focused on the long run. They are the only club left in the competition that is yet to cede a loss to rival clubs, and it’s their other draws against Hoffenheim and Hannover 96 that allowed Bayern Munich back to the conversation.
Moreover, he has plenty of quality players ready to play at his beck and call. Marco Reus is a stable presence in the Dortmund attack and will surely help the squad prepare for a tough match at the Volkswagen Arena. Players such as Marcel Schmelzer, Christian Pulisic, Achraf Hakimi and Axel Witsel have brought a perfect mix of youthful edge and veteran leadership to form strong XIs for Favre.
He also has two outstanding aces that have added plenty of goals and quality to the side. Paco Alcacer has blossomed for BVB ever since leaving Barcelona on loan, and his return from injury is surely going to add the attacking quality they badly missed against Berlin.
Another star player that bloomed for the BVB this season is Jadon Sancho. The young winger has also shown his world-class potential and has built himself a good place in Dortmund’s starting XI. Dortmund fans are bracing for big Bundesliga 2018 news as bigger clubs are already looking into Sancho.
With Dortmund close to full strength on the attack, they can now concentrate on toppling the struggling Wolves. Wolfsburg just endured a six-game winless streak that included a humiliation at home against Bayern Munich.
Of course, Favre would be a fool to let off the gas pedal as Wolfsburg are still a good team if you let them play their game. They have a talented frontman in Wout Weghorst, who just scored against Dusseldorf. If they let him connect to the ball, they may find themselves with a big Dutch problem.
Moreover, putting balls at the back of the net is not a problem for this club. They have been able to pull off high-scoring draws against Borussia Monchengladbach and Hertha Berlin. Moreover, their last two games have a combined five goals scored and no goals conceded.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Wolfsburg are in top form and can bite Dortmund where it hurts if they’re not careful enough.
History
Forty-four games have been played between these two sides, and Dortmund are understandably the bigger favourites by the history books and Bundesliga 2018 odds. Dortmund won 24 of their meetings, with 14 of those won at home. Wolfsburg won ten, and the remaining ten fixtures were draws.
Wolfsburg’s recent form is giving them hope, however. They were able to keep clean sheets against Dusseldorf and Hannover despite playing away from home. The big question is whether their defence can weather a big Dortmund storm and come out unscathed.

I think Alcacer’s return will be a huge boon for the BVB. Whether he starts on the pitch or the bench, we can surely expect goals from the Spaniard. And should the game be decided by the number of goals scored, there’s no question that Borussia Dortmund have the definite edge.
If you’re looking for other options, however, it’s not a bad idea to check the SBOBET Bundesliga market. Given how these two teams have scored over 2.5 goals in their last ten Bundesliga games, it’s not hard to bet on the Over Under market: Over 3.00 Goals is at 2.08.
If you think Wolfsburg will be able to end the first half in a deadlock, it’s a good bet to put money on the First Half 1X2 market: VfL Wolfsburg get a good 3.95 from leading bookies such as SBOBET.
