Could Harry Kane be on his way to the Bundesliga?
Every now and then a major sale happens with almost no build up and if FC Bayern somehow lured the England striker to Munich this would be one such case. The question has been asked in the hot gossip section of Bundesliga 2022 news, and if there is anything in it we can prepare for shock waves around Europe!
Last summer it looked like the prolific striker was on his way to Manchester City but, as he sat in the stands watching his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates kick off the new campaign without him, the deal was unravelling behind him. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has always been a tough cookie to deal with and the Sky Blues lost heart.
This summer Manchester City have taken on Erling Braut Haaland and so they don’t need another big hitter in the number nine role, but Spurs have now been disturbed by overtones from abroad.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann was asked about the striker in a press conference last week and, instead of refusing to talk about another team’s player he was surprisingly forthcoming, almost gushing in his admiration and slyly suggesting that if the money is available he’d make a swoop. “He’s very expensive, that’s the problem,” he said. “But a brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward or a Number 10, he’s very strong, brilliant with head and both feet.
“He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don’t know the price, but it’s really tough for Bayern Munich. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
It may be that Nagelsmann is preparing the ground for a move next summer or even trying to attract the attention of the player’s agent; either way Spurs boss Antonio Conte has not been impressed. After a slow start to last season Kane was soon back to his best when Conte arrived and the former Inter Milan boss has been quick to hit back at Nagelsmann.
“For sure, I am a coach who does not speak about players at other teams,” said Conte. “The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. He is part of the project, an important part of the project. At the same time, I don’t like to speak about the players of other clubs. If I want to do something, I’ll go and speak with the club and not go through the media. Maybe it is a little disrespectful for the other club.”
Spurs finished last season in fourth place, guaranteeing Champions League football and that might be enough to convince Kane, who ended up with 17 goals last term, to stay for at least another year.
Here at SBOTOP we’ve picked the England skipper out as a potential Golden Boot winner at the Qatar World Cup and, if he did make the move to Bayern the Bundesliga 2022 betting odds on Nagelsmann’s side to win the 2022/23 league title might disappear without trace!
In the meantime, the teams hoping to stop Bayern had some encouragement at the weekend as the Bavarians lost a friendly game to Manchester City when former Borussia Dortmund hitman Haaland scored his first goal for the Sky Blues.
Eintracht ready for Milan swoop
Bayern start the new campaign with a clash away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday 5th August and it looks like the Eagles may be without one of their best defenders as Serie A giants AC Milan have emerged as a suitor for centre back Evan Ndicka. The Rossoneri have been looking to strengthen their back line to bolster their Scudetto defence and have been tracking Spurs youngster Japhet Tanganga, but they have now turned their attention to Ndicka.
According to the Italian media Eintracht would be willing to sell the 22 year old at around 20m Euros as he has just a year left to run on his contract. Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is working out his next step, but time is running out with the new campaign’s fast approaching.
Another talented young defender who looks like he’s on the way out of the Bundesliga is Red Bull Leipzig’s highly rated right back Nordi Mukiele. The 24 year old France international is set to sign a five year deal with Paris Saint-Germain and Red Bull are set to receive a fee of 12m Euros with add-ons. It loos like this deal could happen in the next few days.
The quest to stop FC Bayern winning a record 11th successive Bundesliga title will fall on the shoulders of Borussia Dortmund, Red Bull Leipzig and maybe Bayer Leverkusen. The loss of Mukiele isn’t necessarily a major blow to Red Bull, but they will look to strengthen in defence before the season starts.
