When La Liga’s top side rocks up at statistically the worst, what do you expect? A big away win of course. And that might just be worth a punt with the help of handicap betting.
Real Madrid visits Osasuna a point ahead of Barcelona with two games in hand, but with an inferior goal difference. In the knowledge that their fierce rivals have scored more goals too, will that prick the pride of Los Blancos enough to inspire a goal-fest?
WEEK 22 SATURDAY:
Espanyol vs Real Sociedad
Saturday’s opener is tough to call with Asian Handicap Betting odds of 2.66 for the home win, 2.70 away win and 3.10 the draw. Take your pick! Espanyol have won their last two home games while fifth-placed Sociedad have lost the last two away. They were against Barcelona and Real Madrid, though…
Alaves vs Barcelona
After a dramatic midweek Copa del Rey semi-finals, it’s back to the bread and butter of league business for these two. Barcelona must take up the momentum of their win to keep the pressure on Los Blancos. Alaves have participated in three 0-0 draws recently so it may require some patience.
Real Betis vs Valencia
Valencia are one place behind Depor in 16th and six points above the drop, but this is a difficult game against a Real Betis side which has won three and drawn three of its last six home games, spearheaded by Ruben Castro who has eight goals to date.
WEEK 22 SUNDAY:
Osasuna vs Real Madrid
So bottom plays top and there’s only really one outcome we can expect here. But while Osasuna are without a win in four at home, they did give high-flying Sevilla a fright recently, eventually succumbing 3-4. A bet on Over 3.5 goals at 2.11 will keep your attention fixed on this game.
Athletic Club vs Deportivo La Coruna
Athletic Club are still in the hunt for a Europa place; they are just three points behind sixth-placed Villarreal, and a win here could move them up to seventh. Defeat to Eibar ended a sequence of five consecutive draws for Deportivo, but the Blues and Whites are inching closer to safety.
Villarreal vs Malaga
The Yellow Submarine are four points back in sixth and will be keen to make moves to reclaim their oft-held fourth spot, starting with a win over a Malaga team which has been on a dreadful run, losing six and drawing one of their last seven games.
Leganes vs Sporting Gijon
What a big game this is for the league’s minnows, and their tiny Madrid ground will be jam-packed with passionate fans roaring them on against 18th-placed Sporting. Win and they could move eight points clear of the drop; lose and the gap reduces to just two.
WEEK 22 MONDAY:
Las Palmas vs Sevilla
Two points behind Barcelona, Jorge Sampaoli’s Sevilla will be thinking they may have missed a chance after having taken just one point from the last two games. Las Palmas are a tough proposition on home soil and will be desperate to make amends for last week’s shock defeat to lowly Granada.
Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo
The other two midweek Copa del Rey battlers meet; and with that extra day’s rest, Atletico will be right up for this. Antoine Griezmann has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the window and will want to add to his eight goals to cement Atletico’s position in the Champions League places.
WEEK 22 TUESDAY:
Eibar vs Granada
Granada moved off the bottom thanks to a rare win against Las Palmas last week and will think they have a real survival chance, now just five points from safety. It’s a big ask, though, as is a trip to seventh-placed Eibar, a team in form and on back to back wins.
