Football Prediction for Derby Day? It’s gonna be a Cracker

Liverpool vs Everton

Saddle up for the ride, everyone! Saturday night brings us yet another Mersey Derby and this one has a whole lot resting on it.

Everton are six points behind Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s team sits in the coveted fourth place. An away win would not only scupper a fair few betting tips, but it would keep alive the Toffees’ hopes of Champions League football.

It’s one of the big football games of the season and for Liverpool almost a must-win, with Arsenal and Manchester United as well as Everton breathing down their necks.

Saturday’s match will show which team has the steel to cope with the challenges ahead of the run-in to the end of the season.

Recent history, as well as home advantage, favours Liverpool. Three draws have been followed by two victories for the Red side, the last one a 1-0 win at Goodison Park courtesy of Sadio Mane. The Senegal hot shot has 12 for the season and will be a huge threat, but some of his supply has been cut off by the likely absence of Adam Lallana who suffered a thigh strain on international duty.

Mane’s strike partner Roberto Firmino returned from Brazil in the early hours today, but Captain Jordan Henderson remains a doubt.

On the Blue side, fears that Romelu Lukaku may be on his way in the Summer need to be put to one side as the 21-goal striker continues to terrorise defences. And the Toffees have an extra incentive, if needed, following the horrific injury suffered by full-back Seamus Coleman playing for Ireland. He’s out of the hospital and on the long road to recovery, and his team-mates would dearly love to put a smile on his face.

Toffees defender Phil Jagielka said: “One thing Seamus will want us to do is to play well and I’m sure he’ll have the TV on and be cheering us on.”

The locals in Liverpool are proud to call this the ‘Friendly Derby’ and rightly so. But on Saturday, as always, both teams will mean business.
