Mexico vs USA
Mexico and the United States will renew their rivalry this Monday, and it’s looking like sports betting fans will witness yet another thriller as both teams still have some unfinished business against each other.
Sure enough, betting websites would suggest otherwise, with betting odds putting Mexico at 1X2 @ 1.57 while the US are at 5.40. However, with pride and a chance to improve their standings at stake, the Americans will be determined to upset the home team.
El Tri are the favourites as they remain atop the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier, and they are just one win away to virtually clinch a spot for Russia 2018.
With that said, their match with the Stars and Stripes couldn’t come at a better time and place as they will have the opportunity to make a strong statement at home where they are just difficult to beat – the US have never beaten them in a qualifier at the Azteca.
It should also boost their confidence that they defeated the US in their meeting last November, showing the difference in talent and form along the way.
The Red, White and Blue, meanwhile, have already put their miserable Hex start in the rearview as they are unbeaten in their last three qualifying games and are now at third with just a one-point gap behind Costa Rica.
They can relax with the fact that they have a solid footing to play on football’s biggest stage, though a win will give them a better chance to seize automatic qualification.
Not to mention that it will be nice for them to get their revenge for the loss earlier in the tournament.
Christian Pulisic will be the key man for Bruce Arena’s outfit once again. The rising star scored twice in their victory over Trinidad and Tobago, and if he can maintain his form and keep up his scoring streak, there’s no doubt that they can give the Mexicans a run for their money.
Mexico, of course, still have the advantage especially with Juan Carlos Osorio giving his top players enough rest in the Honduras match. Hector Moreno, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Miguel Layun and Andres Guardado had the night off against Los Catrachos, and their fresh legs could make the difference in this game.
You can expect this one to be a high-scoring affair, with both teams boasting the best collection of attacking talent in the group. Mexico at Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 2.07 are worth taking a look, though Goals Over 2.50 @ 2.12 seems like the best choice.
