Bayern Munich 3-1 Hannover 96
Bayern Munich bounced back from last week’s defeat and even managed to gain more ground in the Bundesliga title race after the likes of RB Leipzig, Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund dropped points.
The Bavarians had a hard time against Hannover in what turned out to be an entertaining live betting affair. However, a pair of second-half goals gave them the lead for good as they returned to winning ways to the delight of their online gambling followers.
Hannover, who entered the match winless in their last three league football games, fell behind on 17 minutes after Arturo Vidal headed home off an assist from Thomas Muller – returning from a seven-game absence due to injury.
What followed was a wacky turn of events, as Robert Lewandowski had a goal ruled out after a video replay revealed it was offside. Moments later, Hannover’s Niclas Fullkrug converted a penalty but it had to be retaken due to encroachment, only for Sven Ulreich to save it.
Despite their failure to draw level earlier, the visitors found some hope when Charlison Benschop equalised with an angled header from a corner 10 minutes before the break.
Bayern continued to threaten after the restart, and it didn’t take long before they restored their lead. Muller again was crucial to the build-up of their second goal, helping Kingsley Coman fire from close range.
Lewandowski wasted a couple of chances to put the game out of reach, but he made sure to finish it from the spot in the 87th minute to become the first Bayern player to score in all of his club’s first seven home games.
Bayern stay atop the league table and are now six points clear of last year’s runners-up RB Leipzig, who suffered a 4-0 humbling in the hands of Hoffenheim.
The Sinsheimers got a double from the in-form Serge Gnabry to lead by three goals at the hour and punish the Bulls.
Schalke, on the other hand, failed to move up to second after a 2-2 stalemate with the lowlyKoln, who twice fought back thanks to Sehrou Guirassy’s brace on both sides of halftime.
Meanwhile, Dortmund continue to fall after sharing the spoils with Bayer Leverkusen to the frustration of manager Peter Bosz.
On the other games, Augsburg and Werder Bremen got all three points in their respective Week 14 fixtures, while Freiburg and Hamburg played out a goalless draw in the opener.
