France vs Bolivia
You have to admire their bravery, but when the Bolivia national team arrives in Nantes to meet the World Champions, I fear they must prepare for the worst!
This looks like the mismatch of the century, the International Friendly: France vs Bolivia could turn out to be shooting practice for Les Bleus, but in preparation for the Copa America, visiting head coach Eduardo Villegas will have his team primed for a fight. And in any case, Bolivia opens its Copa America campaign against hosts and hot favourites Brazil ; so what better way to warm up than with a fixture against the World Champions?
The France vs Bolivia betting odds don’t really give the South Americans a prayer, so while Villegas’ boys must work hard to keep the score down, Asian Handicap betting is the way to play at SBOBET
Talking Points
France’s World Champion Hit men
Didier Deschamps’ France won the Russia 2018 World Cup with customary panache and they have continued that form in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, with an attacking line-up to strike fear in the hearts of any defence. Antoine Griezmann has just helped his Atletico Madrid team to another successful season in La Liga, staying above city rivals Real Madrid and finishing second. He’s at the top of his game and subject to speculation of a move to Barcelona again.
Meanwhile Kylian Mbappe has had an outstanding season for PSG in Ligue 1, after hitting the headlines with some breathtaking performance in Russia where his pace and quick feet reaped dividends for Les Bleus and terrified the Argentina defence as he grabbed a brace. After scoring 13 goals in his first season in Paris he’s top scored in the French league this time with 33 goals, 11 more than any other player and at a rate of one every 71 minutes.
If the 20 year old makes a start at the Stade de la Beaujoire the odds on him hitting the net will be very short indeed.
France is the hot favourite to win Group H of the European Championship 2020 qualifiers, with Iceland and Turkey likely to fight it out for second place. Les Bleus start with a tricky clash against Turkey, never an easy place to go with the hostile atmosphere guaranteed and Deschamps will give some of his best players a run out against Bolivia in Nantes.
Bolivia’s quiet spell
Villegas wouldn’t want it any other way, as he needs his players to get a thorough examination before they head to the Copa America. La Verde have been in the doldrums for some time since an impressive second placed finish in the Copa America back in 1997. They have reached the World Cup finals on three occasions, but never progressing past the first round, and last appearing on the world stage in the USA in 1994.
They did win the South American Championship back in 1963 though, which they hosted, and they put up a decent show in the 2015 Copa America in Chile where they drew with Mexico and beat Ecuador to make the second stage, their best effort since 1997.
La Verde failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, finishing ninth in the South American qualifiers, above only Venezuela, and 31 year old striker Marcelo Martins Moreno is the only striker of real note with 17 goals from 72 international appearances.
But there is something in Villegas’ team if they can rediscover their form of 2015.
History
This is the first meeting between these two teams and so, with no France vs Bolivia results to work on, let’s take a look at the recent form of each side.
France has won the last three games, including a 4-0 win over Iceland and a 4-1 victory over Moldova in the European Championship qualifiers. Meanwhile Bolivia has won three and lost three of the last six, drawing a blank in four of those games and managing just two goals in a draw with Nicaragua.
Betting Tip

Well then, can I make a case for anything other than a big home win? Not really! Okay – the Bolivians can be tough to beat at home, but they are poor travellers and Nantes is a far cry from their usual habitat. They will try to defend and keep the score down, but with an important Euro qualifier to come, the France players will be up for this game and that can only mean one thing.
Les Bleus are at 1.085 to win with Bolivia at a massive 36.00 and the draw is at 7.60
A score line of 3-0 is as low as 5.00 and that makes sense with France to win with a -2.50 handicap, odds on at 1.90.
But I can’t see Bolivia keeping Les Bleus quieter than Iceland managed to.
