I’m a “glass half-full” man. Always optimistic and hopeful for the best.
And so my football prediction this week is a simple one: these football games should be entertaining to watch and superbly compelling.
After all, this is the last eight of the Champions League and all bar a few of the heavyweights have made it this far.
Will my betting tips prove as compelling?
Juventus vs Real Madrid (April 04, 02:45 GMT+8)
A re-run of last year’s final.
Can Gianluigi Buffon finally get his hands on a European Cup medal or is he destined to end a glittering career with the sole major which eludes him missing from his CV?
At this stage of the competition last season, Juventus tonked Barcelona 3-0 so Madrid will be wary of their trip to Turin.
After resting key players in La Liga at the weekend—including Toni Kroos, Marcelo and, the man who broke Juve hearts in Cardiff last June, Cristiano Ronaldo—Zinedine Zidane returns to the city where he made his name.
Juventus were slightly fortunate to knock out Spurs in the last 16 and do not seem as strong as 12 months ago, but they remain formidable opponents.
I am expecting a tight contest, so my 🌟🌟 bet is Over 2.50 goals @ 2.19 with a 🌟 tip of 1X2 draw @ 3.05.
Sevilla vs Bayern Munich (April 04, 02:45 GMT+8)
Sevilla may lack some of the star quality they had two years ago but they are no mugs, as proven by their victory at Old Trafford in the last 16.
Vincenzo Montella knows his side start as underdogs but, just like in the round of 16 against Manchester United, that could play into their hands.
With Jupp Heynckes back in charge, Bayern Munich have recovered from a poor start to the campaign and only recently saw an 18-match unbeaten run come to an end.
The Bavarians are hopeful Heynckes can guide them to a repeat of their 2013 success after three years under Pep Guardiola in which they went backwards in Europe.
Certainly, I expect them to have too much for Sevilla. My 🌟 prediction is Bayern Munchen First Half 1X2 @ 2.34 with two further 🌟🌟 tips being Bayern Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 1.92 and Over 2.75 goals @ 1.86.
Barcelona vs AS Roma (April 05, 02:45 GMT+8)
With the Spanish title race almost run, Barcelona may soon be able to focus solely on their European aspirations.
They also have a point to prove after successive exits in the Champions League quarter-finals in recent years.
Roma suffered a weekend blow with the probable loss of Belgium midfielder Radja Nainggolan for this tie.
They can hardly afford to be without such key figures for the trip to the Nou Camp where they start as firm outsiders.
Not for a decade have the Italians reached the last eight of Europe’s premier competition and I do not think they will make it any further this time.
Again, two separate tips from yours truly: a 🌟🌟🌟 tip on Barcelona First Half Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 1.87 and a 🌟 bet on Total Goal 4-6 @ 2.41.
Liverpool vs Manchester City (April 05, 02:45 GMT+8)
Based on their two Premier League meetings this season, you would think goals are guaranteed in this all-English affair.
Both sides will not go gung-ho, however, even if they do play to their strengths which is undoubtedly to attack.
I will plump for 2 🌟🌟 tips of 1X2 draw @ 3.25 and Over 3.00 goals @ 2.13.
