K-League: Jeonbuk’s High-Octane Attack Might Overpower Gangwon FC

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors vs Gangwon FC

The title race continues to pick up steam here in the K-League, as the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors go neck-and-neck with Ulsan Hyundai.

The defending champions are trailing by only one point against the league leaders. But given the recent form of these two sides, Jeonbuk are in great shape to reclaim the top spot.

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have been undefeated for quite some time now, which includes a five-game winning streak. Meanwhile, Ulsan Hyundai had a hiccup as they were held to a goalless draw recently by the Suwon Bluewings.

Jeonbuk’s chances to go on top have come few and far between this term, and perhaps hosting a struggling side in Gangwon FC might do the trick.

Their visitors are in desperate search for a victory over these last few fixtures. They still can’t get it going as of the moment and they’ll face the daunting task of trying to upset the defending champions.

Will the home team continue to assert their dominance over their visitors? Check out this match preview of SBOTOP to learn more.

Talking Points

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors are stacked

Despite playing catch up against Ulsan Hyundai, the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors remain a force to be reckoned with in the K-League.

The Jose Morais-mentored squad are racking up wins as they have yet to lose a game since their July defeat against Sangju Sangmu.

Jeonbuk have one of the dangerous attacks in the Korean top-flight. As of this writing, they’ve amassed 30 goals already while conceding only 11 from their opponents so far this term.

Leading the way is their talisman in Han Gyo-won as the 30-year-old forward found the back of the net seven times already.

Other than Han Gyo-won, Jose Morais have plenty of options at his disposal. Midfielder Kim Bo-kyung scored four goals in his last three games while Brazilian striker Gustavo is a spark off the bench.

Gustavo provides Jeonbuk one more reliable goal scorer. Despite not being in the starting XI all the time, he has scored five goals in five appearances.

U-22 standouts Lee Sung-yoon and Cho Gue-sung are some prospects that Morais has been working on as well. They have played in a couple of games for Jeonbuk which should definitely help them build more confidence.

Jeonbuk’s chase for the title remains within reach. And with Ulsan facing an in-form FC Seoul this weekend, this presents a golden opportunity for them to take over.

Gangwon FC have a leaky defence

Gangwon FC are still figuring out on how to crack into the top half of the K-League table. But their recent K-League 2020 results haven’t been too kind for them.

They have yet to pick up a victory since July 12th to where they beat Gwangju FC, 2-1. Since then, the Kodiaks picked up four draws and two losses.

Looking at their overall play, they have been doing great in dominating possession in their past few outings and they have shown the capability to score when needed.

Moo Yol-Go leads the way in terms of scoring with six goals so far, while midfielder Han Syeung-gyu has been coming into form.

But looking deeper, it’s their backline that has been suspect all along. Gangwon FC owns the second-worst record in goals conceded with 26 and they would need to improve on that to avoid slipping further down to the table.

History

Prior to this fixture, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Gangwon FC have locked horns in 22 games.

Jeonbuk own the significant edge with 16 wins, while Gangwon won in only four matches along with two draws.

One of Gangwon’s rare wins came in last May in a 1-0 scoreline. Moo-Yol Go scored the winning goal in the 37th minute and the defending champions were reduced to 10 men when Hong Jeong-ho was shown the red card.

Betting Tip

??
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors vs Gangwon FC 1X2 Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors @ 1.46
August 30, 18:00(GMT+8)

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors are the defending champions for good reason. With the way they have been playing over these past few weeks, it will be hard to imagine Gangwon FC stopping them on their tracks.

The latest K-League 2020 odds peg the defending champions as the hot favourites to win this weekend. They are priced at 1.46 in the 1×2 market while a draw and a Gangwon FC win are priced at 4.40 and 5.80 respectively.

Last season, goals came in bunches when these two faced off. However, it wasn’t the case in the past two occasions.

Placing your wagers on Under 2.50 @ 1.66 is a good way to go as well.
