UEFA’s annual curtain raiser is upon us, and it can’t get more exciting than this as two of the world’s biggest clubs – Real Madrid and Manchester United – vie for pride, honour and the first piece of silverware up for grabs.
Football games between these two are always a crowd drawer, thanks to their long history and star-studded lineup, so Wednesday’s big live betting affair should be no different as both teams also seek for a positive start ahead of their respective domestic campaigns.
Real Madrid, being the Champions League winners, are tipped to win on online betting. However, if we go by their current form, there’s no doubt that the Red Devils have the advantage.

It remains to be seen if Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale will suit up for Real Madrid, but if they do, there are still questions if they can live up to expectations and impact the game as Ronaldo is coming off from defending his tax fraud accusations while Bale could still be sweating for fitness after his ankle injury.
On the contrary, Manchester United are enjoying a resurgence after making a number of key signings this summer, headed by £75million-man Romelu Lukaku.
And with only one defeat in seven friendlies, the Old Trafford side are more than capable of giving the Spanish club a run for their money.
It’s quite a blow for the Red Devils that defensive duo Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are suspended, but new acquisitions Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic could very well fill the void left by the two and make their official debuts for the club.
A Real Madrid victory at Macedonia will see them become the first team to win successive Super Cups since AC Milan in 1989 and 1990, while United could become the first English club to lift the tournament’s trophy since Liverpool in 2005.
Despite Real’s struggles, I think this game will still turn out competitive with the plethora of talent that they have.
