First half goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Marek Hamsik took this game away from Chievo and fired Napoli back up to second in the table.
After negotiating this tricky match Maurizio Sarri’s team are nine points behind leaders Juventus in Serie A table with 13 football games to go and while betting oddssay it’s the Old Lady’s to lose, Napoli fans hope there will be a few twists to come.
Chievo 1-3 Napoli
Before Roma kicked off against Torino, Napoli did their bit at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi stadium thanks to a commanding first half display. The visitors were favourites to win the game despite Chievo coming into the clash having taken seven points from the last three games.
And that status was justified as Napoli dominated the opening exchanges, but they had to wait until the 31st minute when Insigne fired expertly into the bottom right corner to put the visitors in front. Their celebrating fans only had to wait another seven minutes until Hamsik took a ball from Allan and fired high into the top corner.
Piotr Zielinski secured the win before the hour from outside the box and Riccardo Meggiorini scored a consolation for the hosts.
Pescara 5-0 Genoa
I can’t finish this big match report without a massive shout out for Pescara. The bottom club smashed Genoa for five in a blistering display which must leave their fans scratching their heads. Gianluca Caprari scored a brace and the East coast side is now ‘only’ ten points from safety.
It’s their first win of the season (apart from a forfeit). Come on Pescara, fans…from small acorns grow mighty oaks!
