There may be only one-goal deficits in most of these quarter-final ties but, as far as I’m concerned, the teams that won the first legs will all prevail.
Betting odds tend to back up my belief, although I’ll leave you to decide if my predictions for these football games are worth backing up with serious money.
Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich (April 19, 02:45 GMT+8)
For someone who has scored 22 times in 32 Champions League games for Bayern Munich, it’s clear the Germans’ hopes of pulling back this tie rely much on Robert Lewandowski returning from a shoulder injury.
As Carlo Ancelotti returns to the Bernabeu, Bayern remain strong and will be boosted themselves knowing one of Madrid’s match-winners, Gareth Bale, will miss the second leg.
There will still be enough talent on show to see a few goals though.
My 🌟🌟 tip is Total Goal 2-3 @ 2.20 and Real progression.
Leicester City vs Atletico Madrid (April 19, 02:45 GMT+8)
If the Foxes can score the first goal then it is well and truly game on at the King Power Stadium.
Problem for them is, I just can’t see that happening.
Atletico have too much know-how and talent and this will trump the spirit of the English champions who will finally bow out after another dream run.
History points to Atletico progressing and I expect them to extend their advantage in the second leg as Leicester have to come out and attack.
I’m going for 2 x 🌟🌟🌟 bets in this one:
First half 1X2 Atletico Madrid @ 2.69 and Asian Handicap -0.75 Atletico Madrid @ 2.51.
Barcelona vs Juventus (April 20, 02:45 GMT+8)
All the right things have been said in the build-up to this, by Catalan players and manager alike.
Yet in what is a season-defining week for Barcelona and boss Luis Enrique, this three-goal deficit will prove too much of a hurdle.
Juventus are mean, resolute and have a mental toughness that Paris St Germain lack.
With that in mind, I’m expecting the Turin giants to progress and there to be few goals.
My 🌟 tip is under three goals @ 2.25.
AS Monaco vs Borussia Dortmund (April 20, 02:45 GMT+8)
That the first leg went ahead last week is highly questionable.
Certainly, Dortmund were psychologically scarred after their players were targeted in a bomb attack which led to the game being delayed by nearly 24 hours.
The episode showed even highly-paid footballers are offered little protection when the paymasters need a game played so not to disrupt the schedule.
That first-leg setback will be one they fail to recover from against an exciting Monaco side.
There will be goals in this one again, however.
My 2 🌟🌟 tips are:
Total Goal 2-3 @ 2.28 and Under 3.25 goals @ 2.21.
