Midweek football games always add an extra tingle of excitement to the week and hey, what’s not to like about Premier League betting?
This week’s full programme in the top flight is no exception.
WEEK 25 WEDNESDAY:
Swansea City vs Arsenal
Suddenly, this fixture has a bit of extra intrigue about it for sports betting fans.
Arsenal will surely give a debut to new recruit Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the talented Armenian international who shone only intermittently at Old Trafford.
Swansea may be bottom but have been lifted by the appointment of Carlos Carvalhal. Their superb victory over Liverpool also gave them a lifeline when they were in danger of being cut adrift.
West Ham United vs Crystal Palace
One team who were also in danger of being cut adrift are Crystal Palace, but they are now enjoying a revival under the oldest manager in the Premier League, Roy Hodgson.
Their 4-1 defeat at Arsenal last time out aside, they are edging towards mid-table respectability.
Likewise, West Ham continue to pull away from the Premier League’s lower reaches.
Now, David Moyes needs to give Javier Hernandez the chance to prove his worth—an opportunity which he has been denied so far this term.
Huddersfield Town vs Liverpool
Huddersfield have had a poor January and seem set for a nail-biting final few months of the season.
Manager David Wagner insists survival has always been the aim and that is more clear than ever now.
They will need to reacquaint themselves with some defensive solidity as they prepare for the visit of Liverpool.
WEEK 25 THURSDAY:
Chelsea vs Bournemouth
As Chelsea’s increasingly curious hunt for a target man continues, manager Antonio Conte seems increasingly frustrated.
Their Arsenal hoodoo this season continued as they bowed out of the League Cup in midweek, but they are not reigning champions without good reason as their 4-0 romp at Brighton showed—a game which included a simply stupendous Willian goal.
Like Palace and West Ham, Bournemouth have also enjoyed a resurgence of late.
Like Palace and West Ham, they will know one set of results can be the difference between mid-table comfort and a relegation dogfight.
Everton vs Leicester City
Since easing to a position of safety under Sam Allardyce, Everton have had a miserable January and regressed to the form immediately before his arrival.
The impact of new signings Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun will be worth watching.
The arrival at Goodison of Leicester shows the Toffees where they should be at the very minimum—seventh place and revitalised under Claude Puel who is coaxing superb performances out of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez once again.
Newcastle United vs Burnley
Burnley may have slipped off the pace of late but, judging by the performance against Manchester United last time out, there is little wrong with the high-flying Clarets.
No wonder Sean Dyche was offered and signed a new contract last week.
Newcastle can be brave and offer resistance against bigger clubs.
Now, can they go all out for victory and turn on the style when they need to?
Southampton vs Brighton & Hove Albion
This south coast battle really is now a potential six-pointer.
It ended all square last month and another draw is a result both sides could do without.
Only a point separates the duo, with the Saints in the drop zone and boss Mauricio Pellegrino admitting his job is on the line.
Manchester City vs West Bromwich Albion
A 12-point lead with 14 games to play is as good as it can get really and looks fairly unassailable.
As talk of a quadruple is quietly whispered, Sergio Aguero is also on the verge of becoming the first Manchester City player to reach the 200-goal landmark.
West Brom have to turn recent encouraging draws into victories, although anything they take home from the Etihad Stadium will realistically be a bonus.
Stoke City vs Watford
Watford can point fingers as much as they like but the speculation surrounding former boss Marco Silva should have been handled better by both parties.
One thing the Hornets can’t be accused of, however, is lacking conviction—Javi Garcia was hired as his replacement within hours.
Can he jump-start Watford as Paul Lambert did to Stoke last week?
This is the second of four fixtures which are likely to prove crucial for their survival hopes.
Victory will move them level on points with their opponents.
