Philippe Coutinho scored the opener against Valencia tonight to take Barcelona to the Copa del Rey final, and establish himself as a Barca star for sure.
It will be a repeat of the 2016 final as Sevilla beat Leganes, and it’s a clash that pundits and football betting fans predicted. The betting odds will favour the Catalans of course, but Vincenzo Montella will have Sevilla ready for the fight and you can enjoy it all with Asian Handicap Betting.
Valencia 0-2 (0-3 on agg) Barcelona
Barca didn’t have it all their own way at the Mestalla and went in at the break with just their slender first leg lead. They did threaten first when Lionel Messi tested the keeper with a long range effort destined for the top corner, but Valencia came closest to a goal when Jose Gaya crossed for Rodrigo Moreno who crashed his header against the crossbar.
Ernesto Valverde brought Coutinho on for the second half and what a decision that was. It just took the Brazilian four minutes to open his Barca account, and it was another ex-Liverpool star Luis Suarez who teed him up to slot home from close range. Valencia tried to get back in it and Goncalo Guedes headed just over before Luciano Vietto saw his shot blocked. But the game was well and truly over when Suarez turned provider again to set up Ivan Rakitic who fired low into the corner.
Sevilla 2-0 (3-1 on agg) Leganes
Sevilla saw off Leganes with a professional display to secure its second Copa final in three years. Montella’s men held the advantage after drawing the first leg in Madrid, and were well in charge when Joaquin Correa converted a Luis Muriel cross on 15 minutes.
Leganes stayed in the tie until late in the game and was pressing for the vital equaliser when a fast break from the hosts was rounded off in emphatic style by Franco Vazquez with just a minute remaining.
