With just ten weeks to go before the start of the 2019/2020 Premier League season the recruitment and money men are hard at work, so let’s take a look at the latest rumours making the headlines.
Champions Manchester City and runners up Liverpool have set the bar even higher after a phenomenal title race when the Sky Blues pipped their rivals by a single point. So the chasing pack needs to strengthen well and in good time, just to avoid the gap to the top two widening further.
The early Premier League 2019/2020 betting tips will take shape as the big deals begin to make it over the line, particularly if Manchester City is involved.
Latest Rumours
Pep Guardiola is looking to strengthen his hand early in the window and could be getting close to a deal for Atletico Madrid’s 22 year old midfield star Rodrigo. And he is reported to have shown interest in England’s ball playing centre back Harry Maguire, while Manchester United are also thought to be interested in bringing the Leicester man to the North West. And both Manchester clubs are rumoured to have an interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice who has had a super season with the Hammers, making much of the Premier League 2019 news in the second half of the campaign.
Rice has played down the rumours, saying:“I know there’s speculation, but during the season I signed a new five-year contract with West Ham, so my focus is fully on playing for West Ham. I have a great connection with the fans. The fans love me, I love them, and that’s the way it is at the moment. I’m not thinking about anything else.”
If a big club comes calling I’m sure he’ll be tempted to talk.
Meanwhile, Paul Pogba looks likely to be on his way out of Old Trafford with his old club, Juventus, joining Real Madrid in the hunt for the World Cup winning star.
Finishing fourth in the 2019 Premier League table was another great achievement for Spurs, particularly as head coach Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t made a signing since January 2018. That could be about to change as Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a £53m move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But Spurs fans won’t be getting too excited just yet, as the North London club could face competition from La Liga giants Real Madrid, as well as Manchester United.
Young Chelsea midfield star Mason Mount has impressed this season on loan at Championship club Derby County, and looks set to be recalled to Stamford Bridge, while Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his defence, keen on Liverpool stopper Simon Mignolet who could leave Anfield for £15m, while Asmir Begovich looks set to say goodbye to the Cherries.
Managerial Merry-go-round
On the managerial front, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move to Serie A top dogs Juventus; but he’s keen to play down any speculation in the run up to the Champions League final, rubbishing the rumour: “I am not going to leave Liverpool. I know Serie A very well, I follow it and I like it, but I am going to stay at Liverpool.”
Meanwhile, after guiding Derby County to the Championship play-off final, Frank Lampard has been installed as favourite to take the helm at Stamford Bridge, should Maurizio Sarri head for the exit. Chelsea fans would love to see their hero back at the Bridge, but is it too early for Frank? And, in any case, Sarri could well be staying put for a while.
Done Deals
Manchester United have been making some early running in the transfer market, but have yet to complete a deal, though there is a confirmed exit with Ander Herrera leaving Old Trafford on 1st July. The Red Devils are getting close to landing Swansea City winger Daniel James though.
After a fantastic career in London Petr Cech has been released by Arsenal and is set to take up his new role as Sporting Director at Stamford Bridge.
And the biggest deal to date still belongs to Wolves, with the permanent capture of Raul Jiminez in a £30m switch from Benfica.
There will be more to come for SBOBET football fans over the next couple of weeks I’m sure. Chelsea is reported to have agreed a £115m deal to send Eden Hazard on his way to Real Madrid, where the Belgian maestro will earn a reported £400k a week.
