There’s another full programme of Premier League fixtures this week as the season comes to a climax and Crystal Palace vs Manchester United is the pick of Thursday night’s games.

It seems a little disrespectful to even ask the question, particularly of a team managed by Roy Hodgson.
But having return to action already safe, the Eagles are on a run of five consecutive defeats. They have been thumped by Leicester City and Liverpool but were unlucky to lose 3-2 to Chelsea, while last time out they managed to lose to relegation-threatened Aston Villa.
Look beneath the stats and you can see that the Palace players haven’t already headed for the beach.
So incensed were they at losing to the Villains that Christian Benteke was red-carded after the final whistle at the end of an ill-tempered game.
Mamadou Sakho looked to have scored a perfectly good goal to put the Eagles ahead but the good old VAR intervened and it was chalked off for a hand ball. The ball seemed to ricochet into the net off Sakho’s shoulder, but the technology disagreed.
So Palace remain marooned on 42 points.
As well as missing Benteke for this match, Hodgson will be without the injured defensive duo James Tomkins and Gary Cahill.
They have fewer problems up front, however, as former Manchester United player Wilfried Zaha is Crystal Palace’s biggest attacking threat.

Manchester United head to South London having just seen their four match winning run ended by the Saints — who fully deserved their point — thanks to a last-minute goal.

The Frenchman has gone missing all too often during his time at Old Trafford, but the arrival of Bruno in the January window seems to have given Pogba a nudge in the right direction as he tries to prove he can still be the main man.
The Red Devils have a few defensive worries though, with Phil Jones and Axe Tuanzebe both injured while Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams are also doubtful.
And with an FA Cup semi-final to play this weekend, Solskjaer may shuffle his pack to rest some players.
History
While Palace have been on a terrible run, Manchester United have been in superb form throughout the second half of the season as they are undefeated in 18 games, keeping 12 clean sheets in the process.
And Selhurst Park has been a happy hunting ground for the Red Devils who have won on their last three visits in all competitions.

I’m backing Crystal Palace to run the Red Devils close for two reasons.
First, Manchester United looked a little leggy against the Saints and OGS might be forced to make some changes. And second, Roy Hodgson will be pretty angry at his sides poor run of results and he’ll have the Eagles fired up.
