Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City is on the brink of making history, with just one final game, against Brighton, standing in their way.
As the most exciting Premier League in years comes to a climax on Sunday, there will be two Premier League trophies at the ready, one at Anfield, where Liverpool hosts Wolves, and the other at the Amex Stadium where the Sky Blues will hope to finish the job against Chris Hughton’s Seagulls.
Liverpool has made a habit of snatching late wins so Manchester City fans will be well advised to steer clear of the Premier League 2019 updates from Anfield and concentrate on cheering their own team over the line. The Sky Blues have been in spectacular form and are all set to put on a title winning show, though Brighton will have other ideas.
This is not an afternoon of football for any SBOBET Premier League fans to miss, so get a big bag of popcorn in and pull up a chair!
Talking Points
Can City become back-to-back Champions?
Manchester City will win two consecutive league titles for the first time in their history if they take all three points at the Amex on Sunday. And that could herald a period of domination for the Sky Blues, having seen off a challenge from Liverpool, with the Reds potentially reaching a massive 97 points to finish second.
Pep’s team has frightening attacking talent. 20 goal Sergio Aguero still has an outside chance of winning the Golden Boot, two goals behind Liverpool’s Mo Salah; while Raheem Sterling has had the season of his life, scoring 17 goals and making ten assists. And in Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane the Sky Blues have two of the league’s form players, both with electrifying pace, beautiful control and an eye for goal.
And then, for all this array of attacking talent, who will ever forget the contribution of Captain Marvel Vincent Kompany, as he won the Sky Blues’ last game, against Leicester City, with a 25 yard thunderbolt. His perfectly hit rocket flew into the top right corner and that was the moment the title seemed destined to return to the Etihad.
But with Liverpool’s own impressive run of form, nothing less than a win on the south coast will do.
Seagulls safe again
With the threat of relegation finally lifted, Brighton played with renewed freedom last week and took a point off Arsenal to end the Gunners’ top four hopes.
They scored a rare goal as the veteran Glenn Murray took his season tally to 12, and he remains the Seagull’s best attacking hope, alongside Antony Knockaert, the top assist maker with six.
Brighton has survived a second season in the top flight thanks to the colossal centre back pairing of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy, protected by midfield enforcer Dale Stephens and backed up by their superb keeper Mat Ryan.
After making a fast start to the campaign, the Seagulls’ second half of the season has been wretched, and that doesn’t bode well for next year. But on Sunday, it’s just a day out and a chance to spoil Manchester City’s title party.
History
In the five meetings since 2008 the Sky Blues have won four to Brighton’s one. Indeed Manchester City has won the last four, including the FA Cup semi-final victory in April.
Recent form is also firmly in the Sky Blues’ favour as they are on a winning streak of six matches, in all competitions, while Brighton is winless in nine, surviving courtesy of back-to-back draws.
Can the hosts upset all the odds and make it three?
Betting Tip
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City | Under 3.50 goals @ 1.83 | |

I doubt it!
The Brighton vs Manchester City betting odds point to only one outcome.
For the away team to be at odds of 1.17 to win and home team at 17.50 speaks of the gulf in quality between Manchester City and Brighton. A draw at 6.40 would be a disaster for the Sky Blues.
But I don’t anticipate a romp.
Murray’s penalty against Arsenal last week was only the second goal scored by the Seagulls in nine games and their big defenders will make it hard for City’s gifted attack.
Only one of Manchester City’s last seven league games, all victories, has yielded more than 3.5 goals, with the other six being split equally between 1-0 and 2-0 wins.
This is a supremely professional team which I expect to finish the job on Sunday, probably 0-2 (at odds of 6.40) and maybe 0-3.
