It’s not hard to agree that Manchester City are kings of the Premier League.
Not only are they blessed with talented individuals brought to the Citizens by oil money, they also have the tactical genius of Pep Guardiola to guide them to success in every competition they take part in. With players like Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus ready to play for the Sky Blues, there’s little doubt that City are more than capable of extending the Premier League trophy’s stay at the Etihad.
However, just ceding the title to City would be an utter disrespect to the other brilliant teams that have sprouted over the past three seasons. The league’s other giants would rather get covered in hornet stings than cede the title to City.
Moreover, the possibility of another Leicester popping up from the shadows is always. The money brought about by TV money means that even minnows can snoop around and buy unknown gems from right under their opponents’ noses.
These are the teams that will definitely put up a decent fight against the marauding Sky Blues.
Manchester United
The fans reject it. Jose Mourinho will not stomach it. The hallowed halls of Old Trafford will not stand for it.
Hell will freeze over before the Red Devils even allow the thought of the Sky Blues to sit on their laurels as the best team in all of English football. The team are doing everything they can to snag the title back from their once-irrelevant neighbours.
Man United have made a couple of key signings that is deemed by supporters and analysts as great acquisitions. Fred is living up to the £53-million price tag he has on his shirt after his stellar debut against Real Madrid in Miami.
The emergence of Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba during the offseason are also ones to look out for. If their game against the Galacticos are anything to go by, Manchester City-Manchester United betting tips will be hard to believe.
Liverpool
Liverpool are coming off an impressive season where they made it back to the Champions League final to play a strong Real Madrid side that featured former Los Blancos frontman Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course, we can expect Jurgen Klopp’s men to make more Premier League 2018 news as the season continues.
They have bolstered their squad with the arrivals of Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri. Their implementation of gegenpressing is bearing fruit in the league, their attacking trio is still ready to smash some goals in, and Mohamed Salah reaffirmed his commitment to the Reds.
There’s nowhere to go but up for Liverpool’s attractive attacking football. They will surely fight whatever firepower City may have with cannons of their own.
Arsenal
The SBOBET Premier League 2018 market is still unsure on how Arsenal will pan out in their first season without Arsene Wenger. However, preseason has given plenty of fans that bleed Arsenal red enough reason to feel excited about Unai Emery’s debut campaign at the Emirates.
Their entertaining duel against Chelsea in the ICC was a testament to how well the Gunners have been performing so far in the preseason. Their acquisitions have performed well, and their new system under Emery is slowly coming along nicely.
IF the Gunners manage to get everything sorted before the start of the season, then we may see the return of the Arsenal of old: a team playing exciting football with the aspirations for domestic and European dominance.
Chelsea
Like their London neighbours, Chelsea are going through yet another new age in their club history under Maurizio Sarri. The faithful fans that flock Stamford Bridge also have enough reason to feel hopeful about their club after a preseason that could be considered successful in their books.
While they did lose their ICC friendly in Dublin, the new high-pressing tactic they utilised was more than enough encouragement for the supporters. Jorginho has proven himself to be an invaluable addition to the Blues. The quality of attack they displayed in the absence of a number of their stars also give them enough encouragement.
The coming Community Shield duel at Wembley is the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to throw down the glove on City and declare their intentions of winning the league and defend the FA Cup.
Burnley
It may seem off that Burnley could be vying for Premier League supremacy, but Claudio Ranieri and the 2016 Leicester squad proved that anything is possible in the Premier League. In this humble writer’s opinion, the Clarets are in the best position to pull the rug under the big clubs and come away with another sterling upset.
They had a very successful season, winning 14 games last season and having only a -4 goal difference. Sean Dyche is instantly showing himself as a very capable manager with the way he has handled the pressures of top-flight football while bringing success to this minnow of a football club.
We have to point out that their inability to acquire talent in the summer transfer window, due to the outrageous expenditure of their rivals, has hit on their chances to challenge for the top. However, there is no reason to believe that Dyche could pull off the impossible and give Burnley a well-deserved title.
