Juventus 3-0 Frosinone
Juventus are always slated as heavy favourites against every single opponent they face in Serie A.
The sheer quality of players they have on their ranks — combined with the insanely high level of football they have consistently shown game after game — makes them the easiest team to cheer for in European football. SBOBET fans have known this long ago, and the same thing still rings true today.
Frosinone were the latest side to try their hands on defying fate. While they put up an admirable battle against the league leaders, they eventually fell to Cristiano Ronaldo and company, 3-0. Marco Baroni’s men tried everything they could while still playing their style of football, but they still lost.
Some may feel that playing the rest of the season is a pointless endeavour after such a masterclass from the Bianconeri. We might as well end the season now, because there’s no way Juve will slip up after such a dominating performance.
Highlights of the game
The first highlight of the match began with the biggest man in Turin, of course.
Cristiano Ronaldo commanded the attention of the entire Frosinone backline as he held the ball on the sixth minute. Given that he already had 18 goals prior to the match, the defence was already weary with the damage CR7 could inflict upon them.
However, he surprised everyone when he suddenly made the short pass to Paulo Dybala to his left. The Argentine was left unmarked and had the time of the day to pick his shot and launch a beautiful 25-yard bullet that flew to the top-right corner.
There was nothing Marco Sportiello could do about that conceded goal but to just shrug it off and move on with the match. Unfortunately for him, this wouldn’t be the last time he would get bypassed.
Ronaldo took the lead as he tried to involve everyone on his team on the action. He used his gravity as a player in order to open up spaces his Juve team-mates can run into and attack. Massimiliano Allegri’s XI is working wonders, and Ronaldo is at the creative centre.
He has shown incredible maturity and leadership that wasn’t evident during his high-rolling days at Real Madrid.
Dybala was the spark of the Old Lady’s second goal on 17 minutes. He took the corner and launched it to the middle of the pack. There was a bit of a scramble in the box, but Juventus had their footprints all over the ball. Leonardo Bonucci got the credit as he tapped the ball in.
Many of the teams in the Italian top flight would have called it quits by this point in the game. However, Baroni believes in the romantic beauty of football and trusts his Canarini that they could somehow claw their way back.
They continued to battle as Marco Capuano and Daniel Ciofani tried to pry a goal against a strong Juve defence. Unfortunately for them, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who kept on getting scoring chances until the end of the first half. He was craving for a goal and his actions were honest to his desires.
He eventually got his wish on the second half. Juventus launched a piercing attack thru their right wing that demanded the attention of three Frosinone players. Mario Mandzukic immediately served the ball Ronaldo’s way, and the Serie A’s leading goalscorer added to his season tally with a beautiful low-driven shot in the 63rd minute.
The game was truly over at this point, and Ronaldo got the applause he deserves as he got taken off a minute later. There was nothing Frosinone could do but to just suck it up and leave Juventus Stadium with their head held high.
How can they — and the rest of the Serie A — expect positive Serie A 2019 results against Juventus if even a strong outfit like Lazio could not crack their backline?
Key statistics
Believe it or not, Juventus are still to lose a game of league football this season. They are the only team in Europe that hasn’t experienced defeat in their domestic leagues. Given the way they have performed this season, it’s highly possible that they will enjoy an invincible season domestically.
Moreover, Juventus have been especailly prolific against Italian opposition. Four of their last five league games saw Juventus score three goals, and three of those three-goal games ended in one-sided victory for them. Their 3-3 draw against Parma is a curious outlier.
Juve also dominated the game’s contents, holding the ball for 59% of the time and making 11 goal attempts to Frosinone’s 7. They also had 17 free-kicks and forced five saves out of Sportiello.
What’s next?
There’s no doubt that the Serie A 2019 odds heavily favour Juve lifting the trophy come May. The bookies will also continue to support them through the season as they prepare for a big Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, followed by away league games to Bologna and Napoli.
Meanwhile, Frosinone’s relegation scrap is only going to get tougher. Their next opponents in the league are Roma, Genoa, and Torino, and every single one of these matches won’t be easy on their relegation hopes. They must steel themselves for a scrap if they want to keep themselves in the Italian top flight.
