Inter Milan vs Atalanta
Serie A league leaders Inter Milan are hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday when seventh-placed Atalanta are the visitors to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
Inter lost the Derby Di Milano on Sunday, a result which narrowed the gap at the top of the Serie A table to seven points, and I Nerazzurri want the comfort of a double-digit lead. Over in England, Arsenal lead the Premier League by seven points, and nobody is saying the title race is over there, but the Gunners have Manchester City in their rear-view mirror.
Back in Italy, it is AC Milan trying to hunt down the leaders, and that adds some extra pressure to Christian Chivu’s team. And Raffaele Palladino’s Atalanta have a huge incentive when they visit Milan on Saturday. La Dea started the campaign slowly, but she has made a charge up the table and still has her eyes on a Top 4 place.
And while Inter Milan have already dropped out of the Champions League, Atalanta are still in Europe’s flagship competition, meeting Bayern Munch in a mouthwatering Round of 16 tie on Tuesday night. But it went horribly wrong for La Dea, as she fell to a 6-1 drubbing.
If they can bounce back, an Atalanta victory over Inter Milan is a rare thing indeed, but fans of AC Milan will be watching the Serie A 2026 updates on Saturday, and hoping.
Talking Points
Inter’s big two remain sidelined

I Nerazzurri crashed out of the Champions League in a humiliating loss to Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt recently, as well as losing the Milan derby, and so the mood at the Guiseppe Meazza is pretty tense at the moment. But the latest Serie A 2026 betting odds are still right behind Chivu’s men.
I see two problems facing the Inter boss right now. Firstly, his team has lost two huge games recently, to Glimt and Milan, and that is bound to have an effect on confidence in the dressing room. Secondly, Inter’s two biggest goal threats are sidelined. Captain, striker, and leader in the race for the Capocannoniere, Lautaro Martinez, picked up a calf injury in the loss away to Glimt, and he has been out for the last three weeks, missing three Serie A outings.
He still has five more goals, with 14, than any other player in the league, and the Argentine’s strong running and lethal finishing has been missed. And that applies too to attacking midfielder Hakan Calahanoglu, who missed the derby with a muscle strain.
The Turkish star has scored eight goals and made two assists this season. But like Martinez, he’s not in the frame for this game. There is better news from Marcus Thuram, who has recovered from a virus and he will hope to add to his seven goals for the campaign.
Atalanta seek a second wind
La Dea has come good in the second half of the campaign, climbing up the league table and standing proudly as the last Italian club in the Champions League. After losing their first leg play-off away to Borussia Dortmund 2-0, Atalanta beat 2025 Scudetto winners Napoli and then slapped BVB 4-1. But since then, Palladino’s men have lost their momentum, losing to Sassuolo, drawing with Lazio in the Coppa Italia, and Udinese.
It took a late double from Gianluca Scammaca to salvage the 2-2 draw against Udinese, and that might just be the spark La Dea need to get a second wind in the race for top four places. But the players will need to shrug off their nightmare night against Bayern and go again.
History
With 25 wins to six, Inter have dominated the head-to-heads with Atalanta, though there have been 12 draws from the last 43 meetings. At the Giuseppe Meazza, the tally stands at 16 to two with four draws.
And when the two clubs met in the 2024-25 Serie A campaign, I Nerazzurri ran out 4-0 winners. In fact, Inter have won the last nine meetings, a Lautaro Martinez goal earning them a 1-0 victory in Bergamo in December.
Inter have won two, drawn one, and lost three of their last six games in all competitions, while Atalanta have won two, drawn two, and lost two of the last six games.
Betting Tip
Inter is at SBOTOP odds of at 1.55 to win this crucial tie with Atalanta at 5.45, and the draw is at 4.15. The visitors have been in patchy form of late, but then, Inter seem to have lost their nerve, so I don’t expect La Dea to take another hammering this week.
For a correct scoreline, a 1-1 draw is priced at 7.05 with a 2-1 home win at 7.40.
