Serie A: Lazio and Napoli are Going to Light Up Rome Anew

Rome is going to be filled with fireworks this Saturday as Lazio are slated to host Napoli in what will be another epic Serie A clash.

Napoli are coming off back-to-back draws against Lecce and Fiorentina, while Lazio were also held to a draw by Sampdoria after their impressive victory over Scudetto contenders Inter Milan in the few days prior.

Four matchdays in and these two sides have yet to suffer defeat. However, only one of them can come out and stay unblemished so something has to give.

Spanish combo making an impact for Lazio

Lazio are more dangerous when they’re complete and that was the case during their memorable victory against Inter Milan last Saturday.

Felipe Anderson drew first blood for Lazio but Inter Milan responded right away with a strike by Lautaro Martinez. Maurizio Sarri then brought in Luis Alberto and Pedro off the bench, and the two veterans scored one apiece to give their team three important points.

Napoli have a star on the rise

Victor Osimhen is Napoli’s top attacking threat, but he may have found his new running mate in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.  The former Dinamo Batumi standout was one of their newest additions this summer, and he’s been doing his best to make Neapolitans forget about the recently departed Lorenzo Insigne.

Three goals in their first four matches is a solid return for the 21-year-old. He was the driving force in Napoli’s 5-2 win over Hellas Verona and 4-0 victory over newly-promoted Monza.

Although he didn’t make much impact against Fiorentina and Lecce, it’s evident that Napoli are going to lean on Kvaratskhelia in the long-run and he’s only going to get better.

This is very much a new Napoli side and we’re still in the embryonic stages of the 2022-23 season. In a summer that they lost Kalidou Koulibaly, Fabian Ruiz, and Lorenzo Insigne, Kvaratskhelia is giving Napoli a reason to be excited once more.

Napoli have had Lazio’s number as they’ve won the most number of Serie A games against them more than any other side. Prior to this fixture, the Partenopei have beaten Biancocelesti in 53 out of their 132 games together (D41, L38).

The Partenopei have also defeated the Biancocelesti nine times in their last 11 meetings while scoring 29 goals and conceding only 11 during this stretch.

This match is a tough call and the Serie A 2022 odds agree. Here, we have Napoli priced at 2.49 to edge out Lazio, who are at 2.82, while chances for a draw are at 3.20 in the 1X2 market.

Since it’s hard to pick who will win, we will instead look at how many goals these two sides can score, and a quick scan at their lineups suggests that we’re in for a goal fest once more.
