So who is up for midweek sports betting?

Yeah, me too!

Football games in the Premier League are nearly always compelling and at this stage of the season, there’s added pressure.

That means more ponderables in Premier League betting, especially with a full midweek programme awaiting us.

WEEK 31 WEDNESDAY:

Burnley vs Stoke City

Sean Dyche’s side enter the final spell of the season needing just a few more points to secure safety.

The Clarets would have taken that at the start of a campaign in which they were tipped by many to go straight back down.

Ninth placed Stoke are comfortable in mid-table with very little chance of finishing higher and have struggled on the road, failing to score in their past four away games.

Leicester City vs Sunderland

They may not be safe from relegation but the reigning champions are certainly heading in the right direction.

Leicester have a 100 per cent winning record since Craig Shakespeare was appointed and will relish the visit of lowly Sunderland.

The fact they have gone 495 minutes without scoring and kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 away games shows why David Moyes’ side are rock bottom.

Watford vs West Bromwich Albion

The Baggies secured only their second clean sheet away from home on Saturday – quite a time to do it as they frustrated Old Trafford with a goalless draw.

Tony Pulis’ charges will be expected to produce a more attacking showing against the Hornets.

Watford’s weekend win against Sunderland eased some nerves around Vicarage Road and they should have enough to stay up.

Manchester United vs Everton

Both sides have injury problems at a far from ideal time.

After disappointing weekend results, this could be an attacking contest as both sides look to bounce back.

If Everton realistically want to break into the top six, they need to avoid defeat at Old Trafford.

WEEK 31 THURSDAY:

Arsenal vs West Ham United

Four straight defeats have left West Ham in 14th spot, a contrast with their fine form of last season.

Even the sale of Dimitri Payet and the move from Upton Park can’t fully explain their loss of momentum, although both contributory factors.

While the club says Slaven Bilic’s job is not under threat, the uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger remains.

The ever muddied waters were evident among supporters at the weekend – one group showing their support for the Frenchman, the other protesting it’s time to say farewell.

Hull City vs Middlesbrough

The proverbial six-pointer.

Both clubs are in the drop zone and need victory.

A draw will not suit either.

This should be a tense and not necessarily pretty night at the KC Stadium.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace

Life on the south coast is rarely dull.

Indeed, Claude Puel’s exciting League Cup finalists still have outside hopes of a top 10 finish, which would be a fine achievement given their injury woes.

Palace were superb at Chelsea over the weekend from top to bottom, from goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey to frontman Christian Benteke – with special mention to the ever improving Wilfried Zaha.

No wonder Sir Alex Ferguson made him his last signing.

Swansea City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Without Harry Kane, Spurs have overcome tricky tests to defeat both Southampton and Burnley.

They will face a different kind of challenge at Swansea, led by talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson, formerly of White Hart Lane.

Fernando Llorente needs to be back quickly to help the Swans rediscover their early year form under Paul Clement.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth

What a thriller this was in December on the south coast when the Cherries hit back from 3-1 down to win 4-3.

They now travel to Anfield for the return unbeaten in four and the work of Eddie Howe so often going unnoticed.

It’s at this stage of the season that not playing in Europe could favour Liverpool who may have a freshness lacking in their rivals.
