So for the first time I’m aware of, all my betting tips were wrong last weekend. How embarrassing!
Such is the unpredictability of Premier League betting that in some cases I wasn’t even close.
With that in mind, I’ve studied the betting odds and am going for a trio of home wins to try and get back on track.
Stoke City vs Leicester City (November 4, 20:30 GMT+8)
It was hard-fought, particularly against the deservedly punished Troy Deeney, but Stoke dug in and showed real grit and character to win at Watford last weekend.
How manager Mark Hughes needed that and, arguably, was due to some of his underperforming players. New signing Darren Fletcher isn’t one of them and proved again why he has been arguably their best player of the campaign so far with the only goal.
With skipper Ryan Shawcross back and able to slot in alongside new signings Kurt Zouma and Kevin Wimmer, the Potters should be more resolute at the back, too.
In the words of new manager Claude Puel, Leicester made a ‘perfect’ start to his tenure with a convincing 2-0 victory over Everton.
However, I believe their recent turnaround in form will end at the Britannia Stadium.
My 🌟🌟 tip to start the weekend is 1X2 Stoke City @ 2.65.
Swansea City vs Brighton & Hove Albion (November 4, 23:00 GMT+8)
The Swans are on the precipice of the relegation zone which is no surprise given they sold their top players in the summer.
Brighton are mid-table on 12 points which is a surprise given they probably have the smallest squad in the top flight.
Glenn Murray and Pascal Gross have been among their star performers and they seem to be enjoying their first season at the top table since 1983 – the year they were both relegated and reached the FA Cup Final.
The Welsh side has mustered fewer shots and shots on target than any other Premier League side so far this term. Despite that though, the emerging talent of Tammy Abraham – on loan from Chelsea – has provided genuine optimism and his call-up to the England squad will surely only increase that confidence.
In a closely contested match, I’m going for a 🌟🌟🌟 prediction of Asian Handicap -0.50 Swansea @ 2.42.
Everton vs Watford FC (November 6, 00:30 GMT+8)
This could be David Unsworth’s final job as Everton caretaker manager or the springboard to him being appointed on a full-time basis.
Certainly, failure to defeat the Hornets on home turf will surely end any outside hopes the club’s under-23 coach has of succeeding Ronald Koeman.
There’s no doubt the Toffees need a bit of tenderness to build confidence and cohesion in the dressing room.
Confidence is key and another 🌟🌟🌟 tip for me is Asian Handicap -0.75 Everton @ 2.49.
