It’s now or never for Barcelona, and Luis Enrique’s men need a big helping hand from Sevilla if they are to stand any chance of lifting the domestic title once again.
With 36 football games gone and two to play, three in Real Madrid’s case, there is no margin for error. The betting odds are in Los Blancos’ favour with that extra game, but Barca will do their utmost to send shocks through the mobile betting market, as they are well capable of doing.
WEEK 37 SATURDAY:
Espanyol vs Valencia
We start with Valencia heading to Barcelona to take on ninth-placed Espanyol in a game the home side will expect to win at attractive odds of 2.43. Valencia lost five from six away from home, and 13-goal Gerard Moreno is in fine form for the hosts.
WEEK 37 SUNDAY:
Osasuna vs Granada
A basement battle is on Sunday when Osasuna host Granada. Tony Adams has a 100 percent record as Granada coach… unfortunately it’s 100 percent defeats! And that has taken Granada down. Can he break his duck against the only team to beat Granada to the drop? If he loses, Osasuna will rise to 19th.
Alaves vs Celta Vigo
The Copa del Rey finalists play the Europa League semi-finalists, and cup matters certainly seem to have preoccupied Celta more so. Alaves got their act together by taking 11 points from the last five while Celta has lost their last four.
WEEK 37 MONDAY:
Las Palmas vs Barcelona
Barca are doing their bit in the chase in winning the last four, including the stunning El Clasico win to peg the favourites back. Las Palmas enjoyed a good season at home, but three consecutive defeats saw the Gran Canarians drop to 14th and their season fizzling out. They may well need the +3.00 handicap at odds of 1.97 to win anything for their fans on Monday.
Real Madrid vs Sevilla
So Barcelona will rely on fourth-placed Sevilla to keep them in the hunt. Sevilla need a point to guarantee a Champions League spot and Jorge Sampaoli would dearly like to make his mark on the title race, having been in it for the first half of the season. Los Blancos negotiated a tough Champions League semi-final with Atletico in midweek which may help the visitors.
Real Betis vs Atletico Madrid
Atleti gave Real a scare, going 2-0 up in the cup match and winning 2-1 on the night. Diego Simeone’s team is already lined up for Champions League again next season. It’s not such a happy time at Real Betis though; they’ve sacked manager Victor Sanchez with two games to go. They could have waited!
Villarreal vs Deportivo La Coruna
The Yellow Submarine are fifth and top of a group of three teams separated by a single point as they jostle for Europa League qualification. Villarreal won their last three home games, while Depor are without a win in four and still not mathematically safe.
Real Sociedad vs Malaga
Sociedad are a point behind Villarreal and will welcome 11th-placed Malaga for their last match of the season at the Anoeta. Both teams are in great form, with Sociedad taking ten points from the last four. Meanwhile, Malaga won all of their games, scoring 11 goals and spearheaded by 14-goal Sandro Ramirez.
Athletic Bilbao vs Leganes
Athletic Club are in the mix too, level on points with Sociedad and with four wins in the last five. Leganes are within a whisker of surviving and that will be an amazing feat for Asier Garitano’s men, who have won two from the last three when it really matters.
Eibar vs Sporting Gijon
If Leganes gets a point, 18th-placed Sporting Gijon won’t catch the Madrid club and will have their sights set on Deportivo. Either way, Sporting need to win their last two games and eighth-placed Eibar is a tough place to start.
