Leicester City 1-2 Chelsea
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have moved quietly up into third place with a third consecutive win. Alvaro Morata looks a great signing and scored again before N’Golo Kante made it two. Jamie Vardy scored a consolation from the spot.
Arsenal 3-0 Bournemouth
Danny Welbeck scored twice and big summer signing Alexandre Lacazette added a third as the Gunners won to take the heat off Arsene Wenger, for a week anyway. Eddie Howe’s Cherries are yet to register a point.
Burnley 1-0 Crystal Palace
But at least Howe’s still in a job. Frank de Boer has lost his, unbelievably after four games, thanks to a woeful Chung-yong Lee ball gifting Chris Wood the only goal and Scott Dann’s inability to hit a barn door from a foot away. Palace were the better side throughout. It’s a cruel, cruel game.
Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 West Bromwich Albion
The Seagulls scored their first goal and got a first win in the Premier League after taking advantage of a rare display of sloppiness from the Baggies. Pascal Gross was on target twice to lift the Seagulls away from the drop zone.
Southampton 0-2 Watford FC
Marco Silva’s Watford are up to fourth place and are still unbeaten after goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Daryl Janmaat gave them all three points in Southampton. The Saints look strangely out of sorts.
Swansea City 0-1 Newcastle United
And it was a second win in two games for Rafa Benitez’ Magpies which lifts them to a happy mid-table position at this early stage of the season. Jamaal Lascelles scored the only goal of the game on 76 minutes to win the points.
West Ham United 2-0 Huddersfield Town
The Hammers are happy again after two late goals gave Slaven Bilic’s side their first points of the season. Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew struck on 72 and 77 minutes to ease West Ham to victory and consign Huddersfield to their first defeat in the top.
