Last season, Juventus retook the top spot in the Serie A table in Week 5 and never relinquished the lead from then. Now, entering the same period this campaign, they will look to control the betting odds and reclaim their throne.
However, with Napoli playing better than ever and Inter Milan looking to contend, the Old Lady certainly won’t have an easy way back in this midweek live betting showdown.
WEEK 5 WEDNESDAY:
Bologna vs Inter Milan
Inter are undefeated in four football games, so there’s no doubt why they are expected to come out on top in this one. Bologna haven’t defeated them for almost four years now, and that’s unlikely to change with Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic on fire.
With that said, go for Inter Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 2.01.
WEEK 5 THURSDAY:
Benevento vs AS Roma
Still winless in the top flight, new boys Benevento might be on their way back to relegation. It remains to be seen if their manager, Marco Baroni, will be given another opportunity to prove himself, but it’s not looking good for him as they are up against last year’s runners-up Roma who are fresh off a 3-0 thrashing of Verona, also newcomers.
Atalanta vs Crotone
Atalanta are off to a bumpy start, but they have a chance to hit the ground running against fellow strugglers Crotone. Davide Nicola’s outfit are the only team that haven’t scored yet in the league, and Atalanta can take advantage of that glaring offensive weakness to get full three points.
Cagliari vs Sassuolo
The past two meetings between these two featured 15 goals, with the last a 6-2 win for Sassuolo, so it isn’t wrong to expect the same high-scoring affair this time. Cagliari, though, will enter the match with more confidence after back-to-back wins, in contrast to Sassuolo who are yet to get their first victory.
Genoa vs Chievo
The Genoa-Chievo matchup is expected to be a tight battle considering that the previous meetings between the two had always been close. However, if teenager Pietro Pellegri can find his rhythm again just like how he did against Lazio, then Genoa have a good chance of overcoming Chievo’s balanced frontline.
Hellas Verona vs Sampdoria
Although Verona scored 64 goals in Serie B last year on their way to earning promotion, their sharpness on the offence was now nowhere to be seen. Sampdoria, meanwhile, are on a solid run and should be able to continue climbing the table with Fabio Quagliarella leading the frontline.
Juventus vs Fiorentina
The Old Lady can’t underestimate a Fiorentina outfit that beat them once last year. Though, with Paulo Dybala already bagging his second Serie A hat-trick this year, it will certainly take a lot from the Viola to pull off an upset.
This fight is likely to end up close, but I think Juventus can take advantage playing at home to pull away early and beat a First Half Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 2.33.
Lazio vs Napoli
With 15 goals scored and just two conceded, Napoli will undoubtedly be difficult to take down. Lazio, with Ciro Immobile, have the weapon to counter whatever Napoli throw at them, but the hosts need to buckle up their defence first if they want to win.
Napoli are on a roll and, although I think this will be competitive, betting on the Partenopei Asian Handicap -0.50 @ 2.03 looks like a great move to make.
AC Milan vs SPAL
Currently at fifth place, AC Milan will be determined to catch up with its other Milan rival. Patrick Cutrone, Nikola Kalinic, and Suso have already scored two goals each for Vincenzo Montella’s side, and they looked poised to extend their winning run when they meet SPAL who are coming off back-to-back 2-0 defeats.
Udinese vs Torino
Torino and Udinese have fought out two 2-2 draws in the 2016-17 campaign, and all signs point that it won’t be different this time. Torino have the better record as of the moment and are undoubtedly talented, but they are still struggling closing out tight matches.
